Streets of Rage
The first Streets of Rage title is best described as okay. There are a few problems, but it pretty much sets up the standard for later games. In this one, you have 3 different characters to choose from. Each with their own set of moves and stats. And like any other side-scrolling brawler you battle an onslaught of modern gangs. Facing their leaders at the end of each stage. During battles you may find some loose items that can be employed as a weapons. Such as steel pipes, broken bottles, and knives. My only complaint is that the characters are a bit small (especially when compared to later games), and the game does get a little tedious on certain stages. Streets of Rage is a solid fighting game. It might not be as good as the sequels, but it still deserves a place in your game library.
