MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY
The Mortal Kombat series is another one of those fighters that people love to death or straight-out hate. The gameplay has been left untampered, so MK veterans will immediately know what to expect. Most of the moves are pulled off with quick taps & button combos. It's not as smooth as Street Fighter, but at least it's different. The combo system seems incredibly limited & isn't really worth pulling off most of the time. So it's a pretty average fighter when compared to other titles. What really makes the game fun is all the Finishing Moves you can perform. These come in the forms of Fatalities, Animalites, & several other "-alities" that put the finishing touch on your opponent. It's definitely a gory game, so all you violent children out there will get your fill of violence. There's a load of characters in this version (thus the "Trilogy" in the title). But a good portion of the original bosses were left out of the N64 rev. Most likely because of the cartridge memory constraints. And what you're left with is alot of Scorpion knock-offs such as Rain, Scorpion, Ermac, & others. It's too bad because the PSX version seems bigger & feels like more of Trilogy with the longer list of characters. Still though, the cart doesn't have any glitches & the graphics are generally good for an N64 game. Again, I can only recommend this title for the Mortal Kombat veterans out there. Otherwise, get you 2D fighter fill somewhere else.
