Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

Though the idea for Turok is not wholely original. The game itself is quite good & entertaining. The best way to describe it is Quake with better weapons, larger stages, & cooler enemies. For the most part you're running around these vast stages trying to find an escape. However there are plenty of dinosaurs & other furocious creatures that are trying to stop you. Along the way you'll find all kinds of wild weapons to help yourself out. Some of these include a Bow n'Arrow all the way to a Nuke Launcher. There are definitely some very cool special effects here. As you advance the enemies get wierder & wierder. Soon you'll start to see alien-type creatures & robotic-dinosaur hybrids. At the end of some stages you come across an equally amazing boss. My personal fav is the giant Mantis. I still think jumping in the 1st person view is akward, but it's livable & there aren't that many difficult jumping sections. There's also a load of codes for the game. These can give your enemies huge heads, one-shot kills, & even an ink-wash version of the game (in other words a black wire frame on white view). All the options are fun to fiddle around with & can even make the game that more interesting. Other than that, I don't know what else to say about it. Turok just has that kind of charm that makes you want to play it. Any N64 owner should give this title a look. There's not a whole lot of games as entertaining as this especially with the N64's slim pickings.
