Elmo's Letter Adventure
I'm not sure if video games can be used effectively enough to actually teach a child something. But it looks like Elmo is going to try anyways. First of all, remember this is a game for little kids. So please understand the curve in the score. The gameplay is very simple. Your basic goal is to direct where Elmo goes & press a single button when you see the letter you're seeking. And that's about how every level goes. Elmo winds his way down a long path in search of a particular letter of the alphabet. This game is mainly set up, just so a learning child will figure out what a specific letter looks like. I'd also quess the kid would eventually learn to say & recognize the letters, but that's the only thing that can be achieved. Beyond that Elmo doesn't have much to offer. Heck you could get the same kind of teaching off watching Sesame Street. And that's free. If Elmo's Letter Adventure offered more explanation of letters & even began to explain how to spell words it might have been worth your money. There is definitely better ways of teaching your children. Another thing parents should be warned about is that the game plays horribly slow. So if your Playstation is hooked up to your television set, you can bet on not getting the old boob tube back from your kid for awhile.
