For being a movie-licensed game, this title actually turns out to be pretty decent for the most part. Believe me, it does have some critical flaws. However it also brings several new ideas & features into the video game market. The most obvious being it's texture "skin" technique. Which gives the dinosaurs a realistic streching skin as they move about the screen. A method that is now being used in many of the titles currently heading this way today. And the creators kept with the whole theme using many of the movie's locations & plot lines to develop the interesting levels. It's not all the time that you get a movie-based game that stays on topic while being able to expand on the movie. This is a fashion in which all video game creators should follow suit. Would definitely improve the stereotype of licences. Now while there's a lot of thought & effort put into Lost World, there's still some control issues. The set-up allows for some neat dino-tricks, but really doesn't apply to any of the actual gameplay. Overall play could have been more interesting, if only the level designs gave you a reason to perform a stunt. Otherwise they're just useless moves to goof around with. It's a shame too considering there's only two buttons that you ever use to progress throughout the stages. Even with the different dinosaurs, they should have added more variety in the basic play & forced your skills into use. With typical gameplay the whole thing just gets boring & uninteresting after awhile. A lot more features in the control could have helped. In the end, the Lost World is only an average game that had some really cool ideas going for it. Oh well...
