Monster Rancher
Look it's Digimon & Pokemon for the Playstation! Sorry if that sounds sarcastic but that really is the best way to describe this peculiar little title. Monster Rancher is purely a digimon game pumped up on PSX effects & capabilities. You create new monsters as you train other creatures & make them stronger. Your goal is to win the ultimate competition as you strive to become a master breeder. The greatness of your monster totally depends on how well you take of it. For instance if it is neglected, the creature might run away or start to disobey your orders. However if given food, rest, & respect the creature will come to trust you & fight well against enemy monsters. There's just so many little factors that account for you creatures' well beings. On top of that, the monsters you create is completely unknown until you try it. The game uses information off other cds to create your critter. This includes everything from other PSX games, Saturn titles, PC games, music cds, & whatever else is on a cd. Each code on a cd creates a totally new & unique monster for you to train. It all depends on what cd you use. (Hint - the Metallica: Garage Days CD creates a way too cool Demon Ghost) The whole unpredicatability of the game lends you hours of fun. The only problem I had with the game is that training can often lead to bordom. You'll want to create mosters over anything else in this game. A great title for Pokemon fans looking for something similar on the PSX.
