Parasite Eve

Toted as the first 'movie' rpg comes Parasite Eve. While this title may not be the best Square has ever produced it's unique style & design will definitely leave a lasting impression. On that note, let's start with the game's eerie story & dramatic cinemas. The plotline while seemingly corny manages to explain all of the events & creatures in the game in a sensible way. So don't worry about wacked out tales & confusing plots as with Xenogears. The cinemas are bueatiful & show off alot of hard detail & effort put into the visuals. Just wait till you see some of the 'transformation' scenes the creatures go through. This is almost good enough to become a classic Halloween-based movie. And the music is orchestrated through piano & techno. An unlikely combination that creates the perfect sound of mysticism & eeriness. The soundtrack is a must-buy. Then you get to the game. Which isn't bad, but just isn't as involving with the player as other Square games. Most of the time you're fighting enemies while making you way through a maze of stages. The interaction doesn't get that much deeper than that unless you consider weapon upgrading & item hunting something special. Still the story & visuals are enough to keep you going. Just don't expect the best game you've ever going to play. Like it was promoted as, Parasite Eve is nothing more than a movie RPG.
