Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil 3 comes off as another great game in the series. But unfortunately it doesn't leave the kind of impression that RE2 left. If anything RE3 is a more refined Resident Evil with lots of gameplay tweaks & graphical upgrades. Two things added to the gameplay include the 180º Turn Around & the incredibly useful Escape. While not entirely ground breaking they do make manuvering your character alot easier & smoother (though it still would have been nice to see Full 3D Movement using the Analog). Some Key Events were put in where you have to make a decision. Your choice ultimately dictates how the scene will play out & where you'll go next. Some of the areas also feature randomized events. Meaning one time playing through the alleyway you might see a zombie burst of the police car. And on another occasion some flaming dogs will leap from the fire. All of this kicks up the replay value & leaves some untainted surprises for the gamer. There's also plenty of shooting action and an assortment of puzzles which are standard for the series. The story however was kind of lacking through the main game. You don't learn much of anything new besides the feelings and the fate of the citizens of Racoon City. However there is a Epiloque Mode that finally puts all the pieces of the grand story together for you (but'll you have to play through RE3 at least 8 times to get all the plot bits). There's also a Mercenary Mode (you have to beat the game first) which is really fun & quite addictive. Nothing's better than blasting your way through a ton of zombies while running against the clock. In this mode you can also earn money & purchase some unlimited weapons for use in the normal game. Cool, but it'll take alot of time to make enough money. Again the game doesn't have the same impact as the previous titles but it's still a stand up game all by itself. Resident Evil fans will not be dissappointed.
