Virtua Cop
Virtua Cop is definitely one of the more enjoyable gun games ever made. Again, it's another arcade port so I can't comment on how similar it is to the arcade. But one thing is sure enough, Virtua Cop is a great game. It plays like most shooters. Bad guys pop up all over the place begging to be shot as you advance through each level. But the fun is in the fact that the baddies in the game are set up in more innovative ways & situations than most shooters. They're not just blantantly running out at you. So often a time you'll find yourself really having to quickly shift from bad guy to bad guy as they spring up. And each one pops out of the most unexpected areas giving you quite a surprise. Very cool. But after a couple of plays you'll learn the pattern & the awe of it will wear away. Most of the background items can be destroyed. Including windows, computers, phones, & other miscellaneous items laying around. The bosses are pretty simple. Most of them follow a shoot & duck pattern. Otherwise the whole game really keeps you on your feet & primes your reaction skills. And as with most Saturn ports, the problem comes in the lack of any real replay value. Since these games in the arcade are really only meant to last a good 10 to 15 minutes. (actually you can put the game away in about 20 minutes) They did add a "Shooting Gallery" with pop-up dummies, but it doesn't offer as much fun as the game itself. Its still a fun arcade romp for the short time it lasts.
