Super Castlevania IV
Looks like another good addition to the promising Castlevania series. This time around the game plays more like the 1st & 3rd games in the legacy. Leaving all that fussy RPG stuff behind. Meaning lots of 2D platform action that's pretty much straight forward. Except with the adoption of the new whip swing that allows you to get past wide gaps ala Spider-Man. And since the play mechanics have changed little, it's real easy to get into the game & get playing. The visuals are a definite improvement over the past games. With larger & mare colorful backgrounds & enemies. And the 7-mode effects are put to good use as well. With twisting & turning levels that you must traverse through. It even adds some pretty wicked background effects like in the rotating column level. For the most part the game is nothing new. More like a fancy upgrade to the classic Castlevania. But either way it's still good enough to be worth a look. Especially to Castlevania fans.
