Ignition Factor

Here's a neat little title that really never got the attention it deserved. Ignition Factor is about a rookie kid who starts his new job as a fire fighter. So each mission centers around saving people & manuevering around burning buildings. You have a nice selection of gear to help you along your way. These items include axes, gas masks, fire extinquishers, smoke bombs, rope, & more. You can carry upto 5 items, but the more you gear you have the heavier your character becomes. This can become problem especially is have to make your way quickly or if you have to jump & run across areas. So there's some thinking & preparation to be done before you go into your mission. Along the way you'll find little trinkets which usually belong to the people you saved. After the stage you give the item back to them & it kicks up your score & level quite nicely. You might also uncover the reason as to why the fire started & this helps to give you the background story on that particular stage. It's a very interesting & at times intense game since the fire spreads & slowly destroys your path. You're always on the run & every second counts when battling a blazing inferno. Then again your character is kinda on the slow moving side, but it's livable & you can still get into the game easily. The only complaints I had with the title is when the dialog gets a little abstract & the characters jokingly talk about the "writers" & the other "actors". Man, what a way to knock the player out his/her immersion. And the password system hurts since you only get a single password after completing several stages. A password per stage would have been more preferrable since some stages can take nearly 15 minutes to complete. Still though, it's an amazing little game. So I recommend you check it out whenever you get the chance.
