the Incredible Hulk
Here's another one of those fancy Acclaim games that never tries to amount to anything. Without the Hulk license this is just some lame, look-past platformer. And in fact the only people who should even bother to notice are the diehard Hulk fans. Just because this is the only SNES title based on their favorite comic hero and the fact that it does have some neat comic panels to check out. But this game easily falls short in all the other categories. Most noticable are the graphics. Which try to make the Hulk, enemies, and scenery look as real as possible. But with a comic book character the realistic look just doesn't work. In fact it's down right ugly. They should have stuck with some good old-fashioned hand art work. Now the gameplay is pointed in the right direction. All the controls are there, but it's never put to good use. What you end up with is an aimless side-scrolling game were you ocasionally pick up stuff and smash a few walls here and there. And at the end of every level you fight an infamous super-villian. Didn't see that one coming did you? It's very tedious and uninventive. I'm pretty sure more could have been done to spice things up. Heck the game probably would have been alot more interesting if it were a brawler-type game. If you're going to make a platform game at least make a fun and challenging one. Otherwise don't make one at all. And believe me, the Incredible Hulk doesn't fit into the platform genre.
