Maximum Carnage

Now here's a good Spider-Man game. Instead of the old Platformer style games, they decided to go with a Side-Scrolling Beat 'em up title. Much in the vain of Final Fight, two characters can play at a time as either Spider-Man or Venom. The characters have a variety of attacks & grapples along with item pick-ups. Not to mention the ability to use their 'webbing' for swinging around, making a protective shield, or stopping the enemies in their tracks. And this time you can call on any number of Marvel Super Heroes for help with the Hero Icons. Such as Captain America or the duo of Cloak & Dagger. So the game is definitely fun. And some stages hold hidden areas that can only be accessed by performing certain stunts in specific areas. These secret stages can hold anything from more baddies to precious health & Hero Icons. The stages are varied & feature events right out of the comics. So you're sure to fight plenty of different Super-Villians in classic situations. On top of that there's some great cut-scenes that come straight out of the comic & move the story along. And the soundtrack is done by "Green Jelly" (you might remember the "3 Little Pigs" parody song that came out on MTV in the early 90's). So you can expect a great variety of heavy & alternative music to accompany this already excellent game. Oh, and did I mention the cart is decked out in Red plastic. Extremely Cool! My only gripe with the game is that Carnage is definitely a tough character to beat. And the fact that you see alot of the same characters over & over. Anyways, Maximum Carnage remains as the one of the best Spider-Man games ever produced. Kudos to Marvel!
