Pitfall: the Mayan Adventure
This is why I started playing games in the first place. It's all about the gameplay. This is definitely a solid platformer that features lots of rope-swinging and level exploration. Not to mention alligators that'll snap Harry up if you get too close. Level design teeters on perfection and the game is highly enjoyble. The only thing that's annoying is how Harry seems to die constantly. It'll take some practice to make it past some of the harder areas but the game is still fun and even addictive at that. It just goes to show how level design and intuitive gameplay can make or break a game. The graphics are also top-notch. Featuring fluid animation and some wildly over-exaggerated actions. It's just plain fun to watch like an excellently animated show. And since Harry likes to visit the Reaper so much he has plenty of hillarious death animations. And for the nostalgic fans out there, the original Atari Pitfall is hidden in the game. It's really not that hard to find (though you will have to explore a bit) and the old game is still as enjoyable today as it was many years ago. 2D platformer fans will have a blast with this title.
