Revolution X

Revolution X is merely an average 2D shooter with an Aerosmith license. But for some reason it's really addictive. I quess it's because there's so much stuff to blow up. Any number of vehicles have multiple panels to blast off. And the backgrounds are simply loaded with all sorts of destroyable details & items. Not to mention an army of bad guys to put away. Of course you come across some hidden weapons & items but you really can forget about them. Except for the Aerosmith symbols, which give you a pathetic excuse of an Aerosmith concert after beating the game. Another neat feature is that there are several pathways and areas to explore. Giving it an adverturous flavor that you don't normally see in shooter games. But overall the graphics are horrible & controls to simple. Lot's of times enemies look horribly blocky & have next to nothing in terms of animation. All you ever do with the controls is hold the button & sway your cursor back & forth. Not incredibly genuine or fun if you ask me. And I quess the real selling point of this game is the fact that it involves a couple of scenes with Aerosmith. Not to mention an accompanying soundtrack by the band. But you should only expect short cuts of their hits & not full fledged songs. It's only the SNES for crying out loud. Just be warned that even though it's a cheesey title, there's something that just keeps bringing you back to it. Who knows what it is, but do you really want to find out?
