Vortex
There weren't a whole lot of other FX chip games besides Star Fox & couple others ever released on the SNES. And it seems like it should stay that way after playing this mess of game. This game uses lots of big, clunky blocks for graphics. Which aren't that bad (at least they're 3D). I just wish more originality could have been put into the design to break away from what Star Fox had already created. What is neat is the fact that you can play a variety of vehicles. From space ships to giant mechs. Very cool. But it all really doesn't matter becuase the gameplay is just plain sappy. Everything doesn't react quick enough giving the game a slow pace. And in the end, shooting aimlessly without any control is just plain BS. And the missions & action aren't as fun or even as cool as the ones found in Star Fox. You're left feeling like the whole thing is a cheap immatation. Once you get past the so-so graphics & the ridiculously poor play there just isn't much left for you to enjoy (or even criticise for that matter). All I can say is that much better has been done & this title is nothing more than a waste of time. You might as well stick to Star Fox.
