High off in the hills there is a spirit
that floats on the wind like a feather fallen from heaven.
It is a spirit that understands we are all one
that the howl of the wolf does not portend evil.
I would urge you to go there and breathe it in
wherever this place may be for you.
The tracks of life that you plant in the earth are the roadmap of your destiny
a decision to be made each time you meet the tracks of others
let your course be straight enough to lead you where you must go
but not so straight as to be unyielding -- dragging others down in your wake
or worse yet, stamping out another's track.
When you have drawn breath in the spirit place
you will go away knowing that you are not one -- alone
that life does not end in the passing of your bones to dust
but that your every action is a small ripple in an endless lake
Life
But, life is about who you love and who you hurt.
It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully.
It's about keeping or betraying trust.
It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon.
It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening.
About starting rumours and contributing to petty gossip.
It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention.
It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance and revenge.
It's about carrying inner hate and love,
letting it grow, and spreading it.
But most of all, it's about using your life to touch
or poison other people's hearts in such a way that
could have never occurred alone.
Only you choose the way those hearts are affected,
and those choices are what life's all about.
