For Freedom
By: Eponine
Perhaps you think that we lost our battle,
Or that we fought in vain,
But as history has proved to us
You gain freedom through your pain.
Perhaps you think our cause was lost,
That there is no future now,
But there is light in the distance for you,
And I will show you how.
Don’t let the curtain fall on your life,
Without your story being heard,
For from a single cry of hope,
An entire revolution is spurred.
Tonight may be the last night that I
Look upon your young faces,
But remember me as you go your way,
To other lives and places.
I fought not just for her, but for everyone
Not for our race, but for humans everywhere
My battle was not revenge, but life-
The only medal I shall bear.
Do you realize now why I have fought?
Why I do not feel the pain?
Now, go in peace, my beloved brothers,
For in Heaven we shall meet again.
