THE ORGY CHRONICLES

By Jennifer Likes

Chapter 7

When I returned from my "dinner" I climbed the stairs to Nicole's room so I could talk to her. Not finding her in her room, I went back down stairs and into the living room.
"Nicole?" I called out, loud enough so she would be able to hear me throughout the downstairs.
"She's not here." I heard Jay say from the kitchen. When I went in, I found him sitting at the table, a bottle of vodka in one hand, a shot glass in the other. Vampire or not, Jay still loved his vodka.
"Where'd she go?" I asked, sitting down across from him.
"Hell if I know." Jay said, pouring himself another drink. "She just left, didn't say a word to anyone."
"Imagine that. You tried to kill her, then she had the audacity to not tell you where she was going." I said smugly.
"Listen, Jennifer..." Jay started, before being interrupted by Ryan, who came in the kitchen putting on his jacket.
"I'm going to look for Nicole. I don't trust her out there by herself when she's this mad."
Jay laughed. "Call me crazy, but I think she's more than proved that she can handle herself."
Ryan turned and glared at Jay. "Hey, I have an idea, how about you don't be a dick for half a second!" He turned back around and walked towards the back door. "I'll be back."
"Damn, what's with everyone in this f*cking house?" Jay said, finishing his shot.
"Oh, of course, Jay. It couldn't be you, it has to be everyone else. The almighty and powerful Jay could never be the one with the problem!" It was amazing how Jay had the power to make me scream like no one else could.
Jay slammed down his drink and stood up. "You know what? I'm beginning to think you were a mistake. Both of you." He said bitterly.
"Then why did you make us in the first place?" I said through gritted teeth. "It's not like I wanted this! And even so, why are you keeping us around?"
"You want to know why I'm keeping you around? Fine! I'll tell you!" Jay was now standing only inches away from me. "Because I care about you! More than I've cared about anyone in a long time!"
I blinked in response to Jay's intense confession. "What? You... I mean... they way we've acted towards each other..."
"I know." Jay said softly. "I feel terrible, you deserve so much better. I know I've made your new life a living hell, but it wasn't at all what I'd intended. Things...came up, and distracted me."
"Nicole?" I said, matching his soft tone. "Why her?"
He sat down before answering me. "I didn't make Nicole. That was Ryan's doing."
      "She doesn't know, does she?"
      "No."
These vampiric months had been the most confusing of my life. "Why have you let her think it was you that made her all this time?"
Jay sighed. "There were... circumstances that went with her making that we didn't think she'd like to hear about."
"But she should know. It's her life."
Jay moved toward the kitchen door. "Look, Ryan should be the one to explain this to her. And of course when she knows, she'll tell you. Just let it happen on its own."
This whole life as a vampire was a never ending web of confusion.

"I knew I'd find you here." Ryan said, sitting down on the marble steps of the mausoleum beside Nicole.
"And why is that?" She said, absentmindedly plucking the feathers from a dead crow that laid beside her.
      "Because I know you."
"Why is he like that? Why does he act like he's God? He treats me like I'm the worst creation he could have ever made. And that's just it! HE made me!"
Ryan sighed and shifted on the steps. "Not exactly..."
      "Huh? Pardon?"
"Well..." Ryan struggled with his words. "I was the one that made you. Well, got the ball rolling by biting you. Jay fed you from him, and made you fully vampire, but I bit you to begin with."
A confused look washed over Nicole's face. "Why didn't anyone ever tell me this? It is my life after all, shouldn't I have known?"
"There are extenuating circumstances that would have made you... upset if you knew."
"I really don't get this. Why would I have cared if it was you? If anything, it's comforting to know that it was you, and not that arrogant, self-absorbed, murderer!"
"No, babe, just listen to me. It...it wasn't what you think. You were really drunk, and don't remember when I bit you, but... it wasn't originally intended to be me making a companion." Ryan looked into Nicole's confused face.
      "So... I was food?"
The uncomfortable look returned to Ryan's face. "You could say that... but, um, it wouldn't really be true. You were more of..."
"A victim?" Nicole finished. "It's okay, it's not important. But..." I smile played across her lips. "Since you're on this big truth telling kick, why don't you elaborate on what you were planning on doing."
Ryan grinned. "You're sick, you know that?"
"I know. But that's what you love about me."
"Indeed." Ryan said as their lips met.
