At Your Own RiskAt Your Own Risk is a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event, broadcast annually in September by the professional wrestling promotion MECCA. The first event took place on September 24, 2005, from the Agora Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio, and was the first bi-monthly special to air live on FSN. In 2007, the event began being broadcast on pay-per-view after the company changed their model to one per month. Eventually the event became a showcase for extreme wrestling, with the biggest marquee matches having stipulations attached to them. Contents |
HistoryWhen MECCA began, its pay-per-view schedule was only bi-monthly. On the off months, they held special events which were broadcast on local affiliates across the Midwest. In the summer of 2005, MECCA signed a deal with FSN to air their flagship show Go Time on their network beginning in November. They also signed a deal to bring the bi-monthly events to FSN, who would air them live. The first of these was slated to be At Your Own Risk in September. At Your Own Risk 2005BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was the first bi-monthly special broadcast by MECCA to air live on FSN. It took place at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 24, 2005. The event was released on DVD via the MECCA website several weeks later. In the summer of 2005, Nykk had accomplished his goal of winning the MECCA Championship. However, two tough title defenses against CM Punk and Low Ki in August may have taken their toll on the champ. On August 23, he lost a non-title match to his old rival Alan Mayse. Mayse wasted no time the next week in petitioning for a title shot, but Kevin Stone also pointed out that he hadn't been beaten since turning on his partner Cynric. For his part, Cynric managed to defeat Low Ki in a singles match in the main event, putting him in the title conversation. On September 6, MECCA authority Katie Piehl announced that all three men would get their title shot at At Your Own Risk, with Nykk defending the belt in a Four Corner Chaos Match. When Cynric beat Low Ki on August 30, it was partially because of his brother Ronin Fox, who pointed out to the ref that Ki had been using a chain. A tug of war with the chain ensued, and Ki accidentally struck the ref with the chain, allowing Fox to come in and nail him with a Tail End, leading to Cynric rolling him up for the victory. The next week, Ki got some payback by costing Fox a match against Kevin Stone and brutalizing him afterward. Fox officially challenged him for At Your Own Risk on September 13, saying that if he couldn't take Stone's spot on the Contender Star then he was coming after Ki's spot. In August, Jay Crowe officially walked away from SELF after witnessing CM Punk turn up the vitriol and abuse on his brother Eddie Crowe over his perceived failure. There was some doubt about whether Dusty Schneble would stay or go, but during Jay and Punk's match at Summer Showdown Dusty came to the ring and turned on Punk, leading to Jay winning the match. An incensed Punk quit the company right afterward, but the mental job he had done on Eddie remained. He was still enamored with Punk, and looked to continue SELF in his absence along with his only remaining stablemate Trent Acid. On September 13, Eddie challenged The Pyro Twins to a tag team match for At Your Own Risk. Jay and Dusty still had qualms about hurting Eddie, but said they would have no problem taking on Acid. At Your Own Risk 2006BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was the seventh bi-monthly event broadcast live on FSN. It took place on September 30, 2006, from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. At Summertime Showdown, The UK Wrecking Crew returned full-time to MECCA. During the tag title match, they cost their bitter rivals The Pyro Twins the MECCA Tag Team Championship. World Champion Eddie Crowe had his own score to settle with the UKWC for turning on him the year before and on the August 30 episode of Go Time went against them in tag team action, only to be pinned by Jack Fletcher. The next week, he took on Andy Nathans one on one, but lost due to cheating on Nathans's part. On September 13, they both laid claim to a title shot, and Eddie was willing to give it to one of them, but told them to decide which one. The UKWC said they saw his divide and conquer game, and proposed that he defend it against both of them at At Your Own Risk in a Triangle Match. Eddie accepted the challenge. Throughout the summer of 2006, Cheesecake seemingly became disenchanted with The Eccentric Alliance. He began cheating more in his matches, was often seen talking to some mystery person on his cell phone, and eventually turned on Huh and blinded him during their match at Summertime Showdown. That was also when Cheesecake debuted the woman he had been speaking with on the phone, his new valet Coquette. She began to help him get victories over his former stablemates, but when she helped him beat Matt Sydal, Sydal's old friend Daizee Haze came out to even the odds. Daizee paid Coquette back the next week by beating her in the middle of the ring, but Cheesecake attacked her after the match. Sydal made the save this time, and challenged Cheesecake and Coquette to face himself and Daizee Haze in a Mixed Tag Team Match at At Your Own Risk. They eventually accepted the challenge. At Summertime Showdown, Bryan Danielson came very close to winning the MECCA Championship. His loss didn't deter him and on September 13, he came out to confront Toughman Champion Alan Mayse. He requested a non-title match with the champ, because he knew a win over Mayse would mean something to the board of directors and would help him get a rematch for the World Title. Mayse accepted the challenge, stating that after their match he would give Danielson a shot at the Toughman Championship because he needed a credible victory like that to continue building the title as something special. At Your Own Risk 2007BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view for the first time on September 29, 2007, once again from the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida. The event theme was "She Builds Fast Machines" by Velvet Revolver. At Summertime Showdown, Alan Mayse failed to capture the MECCA World Heavyweight Championship from Ronin Fox. In the weeks prior, Fox had been persistent in his invitation for Mayse to join The House of Lords, but Alan refused him every time. On the September 5 episode of Go Time, however, Alan teamed with Bryan Danielson against Fox and Nykk. Alan was thrown to the outside, letting Nykk and Fox have their way with Danielson. After beating him, Alan got back in the ring and gave Danielson a Tiger Bomb. He, Nykk and Fox worked together to beat down Danielson, and Mayse said that he was tired of trying to do things the right way and that the House of Lords would take him to the top of the business. MECCA executor Katie Piehl was quick to sign Danielson and Mayse to a match at At Your Own Risk, but on September 14 the match became even more important. On that episode of Go Time, Danielson won the World Title from Ronin Fox. With Fox already slated to face Eddie Crowe at the PPV, Piehl decided that the matches would go on as advertised, but now Danielson would be defending his newly won title against Mayse. At Summertime Showdown, former World Champion Eddie Crowe won a Four Corners Match, with the winner receiving a future title shot. Katie Piehl wasted no time in booking Eddie against Ronin Fox for At Your Own Risk in an attempt to get the World Title away from The House of Lords. However, before the match could take place, Bryan Danielson defeated Fox for the title on September 14. Piehl decided that At Your Own Risk's matches would go on as advertised, but with Danielson defending the title against Alan Mayse. Eddie was told he would get his promised title shot at the winner of that match, and Eddie was now able to focus on getting payback on Fox for taking the title from him back at New Dawn. On the August 29 episode of Go Time, Nykk and Lisa Letty were surprised to find Delirious lurking in her dressing room. Delirious seemed to be after a title shot, but Nykk was incensed, calling him a pervert and booking him and his partner The Human Tornado in a match against The Pyro Twins with virtually no chance to prepare. The Pyro Twins gave them a beating, pleasing Nykk. Nykk then booked himself and Lisa against Delirious and a female partner at At Your Own Risk, saying if Delirious lost he would be gone from MECCA. The next week, MECCA executor Katie Piehl intervened, saying it wasn't fair that Delirious would get nothing out of this match. Though she couldn't rescind Nykk's stipulation, she added one of her own. If Delirious and his partner won, they would get a guaranteed title shot of their choice. Results
At Your Own Risk 2008BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 27, 2008, from the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan. A few months after winning the MECCA World Heavyweight Championship at The MECCA Challenge IV, the attitude of Anubis began to change. He became more paranoid about everyone who was out to knock him off the top of the mountain, and this became evident in the shortcuts he had to take to put away Austin Lee at Summertime Showdown, including giving him a cheap shot after the match. Anubis's partner and best friend The Wild Wolf didn't appreciate those actions and let Anubis know about it on the next episode of Go Time. Later in the night, Wolf won a Supernova Spectacle for the right to face the World Champion at At Your Own Risk. Wolf called Anubis out the next week, asking him what was going on in his head. Not getting an answer, Wolf said if Anubis is going to turn on him, he should do it right now. Anubis finally spoke, shaking Wolf's hand and saying he wasn't about to turn on him now. They teamed on September 17, losing to the team of Austin Lee and Eddie Crowe. Anubis blamed Wolf for the loss and blasted him with the title belt. On the next episode, Wolf confronted Anubis while holding a steel pipe and they got into it before being separated by officials. During the summer of 2008, Kelly Schweickart turned on the Ladies' Champion Naomi Leach. Despite recruiting Sara Del Rey as an ally, Kelly was unable to win the belt from Naomi at Summertime Showdown. Kelly still wanted the title, and Naomi still wanted payback, so the rematch was set for At Your Own Risk, this time in an Anything Goes Match. In the fall of 2008, the rivalry between Eddie Crowe and Nykk was rekindled. During a Supernova Spectacle on September 3, Nykk cheated to eliminate Eddie. When he tried to cheat to win as the match came down to him and The Wild Wolf, Eddie returned to ringside to stop him. This allowed Wolf to get the victory. The next week, Eddie teamed with Bryan Danielson to defeat Nykk and Ronin Fox. Nykk attacked Eddie with a chair afterward, until officials managed to pull him off. They were eventually signed to a one on one match at At Your Own Risk. Results
At Your Own Risk 2009BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 26, 2009, from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. During the summer of 2009, MECCA was in the midst of a war with wrestlers representing Ring of Honor. One of the men to invade MECCA was former ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima. He made no bones about the fact that he wanted to face Anubis for the MECCA World Heavyweight Championship. Though Anubis did everything he could to stay out of the war, he was happy to face Morishima and add to his own legacy as the greatest champion of all time. They met at Liberty or Death, but the war reared its head and the match had to be thrown out. After the war ended at Summertime Showdown, Morishima stuck around, wanting his rematch with Anubis. Anubis agreed to it, and the match was signed for At Your Own Risk, but this time it would be under Relaxed Rules. In early 2009, Tristan Lee displayed a change in attitude that led to him being at odds with his brother Austin Lee. But after their match at The MECCA Challenge V, all seemed to be forgiven and they were able to resume their team. But in June in their home country of England, Austin suddenly turned on Tristan, beating him so bad that he was out of action for six weeks. Austin himself was suspended after striking officials who came out to help, but made his return later that summer. Tristan returned as well, and the two faced off at Summertime Showdown, with Tristan picking up the win. Austin attacked him again after the match, once again sending his own brother to the hospital. Tristan returned on September 9, attacking his brother in retaliation. A match was signed for At Your Own Risk, but this time it would be a Falls Count Anywhere Match. The Briscoes developed a rivalry with The Consulate during 2009 that lasted for most of the year. The Briscoes first faced off against Alan Mayse and Jamie Chan at Melee, but both teams ended up disqualified. Chan and Mayse would go on to win the MECCA Tag Team Championship, and defended against the Briscoes at Punked Out. However, the Consulate cheated in order to retain the belts. During the summer, Mark Briscoe suffered an injury, but was able to return in September, and he and his brother wanted one more shot at the Consulate. They got their wish, and received a title shot against Mayse and Chan at At Your Own risk in a No DQ Match. Results
At Your Own Risk 2010BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 25, 2010, from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, New York. At Summertime Showdown the previous month, Dusty Schneble revealed that he was aligned with Jimmy Jacobs and The Absence of Light when Jacobs showed up after Dusty lost the Ring of Fire match to Jay Crowe and burned him so badly that he was put out of MECCA. Jacobs wasted no time in helping Schneble get on the Contender Star, and proclaimed his desire for Dusty to win the MECCA World Championship so he could hand it over to Jacobs and plunge it into darkness. Dusty won a Supernova Spectacle on the September 8 edition of Go Time, and his match against the new champion Nykk was announced for At Your Own Risk shortly after. They would clash a couple of times over the next two weeks, with the Absence of Light attacking Nykk after a six-man tag on September 22. Nykk was saved from the same fate as Jay Crowe by Ronin Fox and Eddie Crowe. Due to the physical nature of these incidents, it was announced that Nykk and Dusty's title match would be contested under relaxed rules. Eddie Crowe, meanwhile, was out for revenge for what Jacobs did to his brother. He attacked Jacobs and Schneble as they gloated about it on the September 1 Go Time, but was quickly beaten down and taken out of action for the night. Eddie teamed with Nykk to take on Jacobs and Schneble in a tag team match on September 15, but got his team disqualified when he went after Jacobs with a chair. As a result, a match between them was signed for At Your Own Risk and it was made Anything Goes. The Absence of Light got their revenge the next week, when Eddie took on Ryan Andrews by assuring Ryan won the match and took Eddie's spot on the Contender Star. On September 22, Eddie once again tried to get at Jacobs when he and Dusty attacked Nykk after a six-man tag and tried to put him through a table. After losing in their rematch for the MECCA World Tag Team Championship to The Invincible Outlaws at Summertime Showdown, The UK Wrecking Crew were desperate to get one more shot at the belts. They confronted the Outlaws on September 1 and offered them a deal: they could put the title son the line in a Ladder Match at At Your Own Risk, and if the UKWC lost, they would leave MECCA and return to England, getting out of their hair forever. The Outlaws quickly accepted the deal. They clashed several times in singles action over the next few weeks. On September 15, Austin Lee defeated Jack Fletcher, but as they were wrestling, a brawl broke out in the back between Andy Nathans and Anubis. Anubis ended up taking a fall off a catwalk through a table and had to be tended to by EMTs. On September 22, Anubis was given the night off to aid in his recuperation, but Austin insisted he would be good to go for At Your Own Risk. Results
At Your Own Risk 2011BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 24, 2011, from the UT: San Antonio Convocation Center in San Antonio, Texas. With Jimmy Jacobs and Katie Piehl gone and The Absence of Light dead, many in MECCA were looking to move on with their careers. For Eddie Crowe, this meant trying to reclaim the MECCA World Championship that he once held for thirteen months. On the September 7 episode of Go Time, Crowe confronted champion Jamie Chan after his match and asked for a shot at the title. Chan was eager to oblige since Crowe had teamed with him against the Absence of Light at Summertime Showdown to defend MECCA against the Absence of Light. But Nykk, who had returned to MECCA earlier that night as a new commentator, intervened. He revealed that his true goal in MECCA was to build a stable of clients, and that his very first deal was with the World Champion himself. Chan denied this, but while he was distracted, Eddie attacked him from behind, revealing that it was Eddie Crowe who was Nykk's first client. They had several confrontations with Chan over the next few weeks, and on September 21, Eddie cost Chan's team a six-man tag. Having had enough of Eddie and Nykk, Chan confronted them in their dressing room and beat up Eddie throughout the backstage area until Nykk was able to buy Eddie some time to escape. As a result, the board of directors sent the memo that if Chan were to do anything to get himself disqualified in his title match at At Your Own Risk, he would lose the match and the belt. Although the Tag Team Champions High Def beat The UK Wrecking Crew in the Best of Five Series, the Ladder match at Summertime Showdown was not without controversy. The UKWC wanted one more match for the titles, but their claim was contested by their rivals Ronin Fox and Jay Crowe. The remnants of the Absence of Light, Dusty Schneble and Torea, also scored a few wins and laid claim to a title shot. As a result, for the first time ever, the four teams were put into a 30-minute Iron Team match at At Your Own Risk. Pinfalls or submissions would earn a team one point, while they would be penalized a point if they were counted out or disqualified. The team with the most points at the end of the time limit would win the match. The feud between Anubis and Ryan Andrews only heated up the more they faced on another. Andrews won after hitting a low blow in their first encounter, and then angered Anubis by costing him the chance to win the World Title in a Triangle match in August. Their rematch at Summertime Showdown saw Andrews once again utilize a low blow to take down Anubis and get the win. Andrews tried to move on, claiming he had nothing to prove, but Anubis wouldn't be denied his revenge. They were booked in another rematch for At Your Own Risk. Results
At Your Own Risk 2012BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 29, 2012, from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ronin Fox had just dethroned Marcus Kavian for the MECCA World Championship at Summertime Showdown, but he couldn't rest on his laurels. On the August 29 episode of Go Time, a Supernova Spectacle was held to determine who would compete for the World Title at At Your Own Risk. Ryan Andrews was the winner, who was more than eager to win the grand prize of MECCA and also get payback on Fox for taking his and Jimmy Rave's MECCA World Tag Team Championship back in May. Since their match would be in Las Vegas, MECCA Authority Cynric decided that they would compete in what he called the Wheel of Unfortunate Events, a two out of three falls match where the stipulation for each fall would be determined by the spin of a roulette wheel, with twelve different possible match types. At Summertime Showdown, Alex Shelley became the first MECCA Legacy Champion. It was decided that potential contenders would have to petition in order to challenge for the belt. They would be given a match, and all they had to do to get a title shot was win that match, no matter who it was against. Brandon Blade won a petition match on the September 12 episode of Go Time, and was given his title shot at At Your Own Risk. As the only member of The Near Future yet to win a title, Blade was eager to prove himself. Shelley confronted him on September 26 about having a fair match and leaving his guys in the back, but Blade didn't seem to interested. Though Shelley seemed to see potential in Blade and didn't just see him as another opponent. Gary Kopp and Jack Evans had been at one another's throats ever since Kopp betrayed his partner and joined The Circle of Trust on the next show after The MECCA Challenge VIII. They met several times during the spring and summer and traded wins, but brawled out of the building at Summertime Showdown during a Five-Way Fury Match for the MECCA Toughman Championship, ruining both their chances at winning the title. Cynric declared that the rivalry would be settled at At Your Own Risk, and since the ring couldn't seem to contain them, it would be decided in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Results
At Your Own Risk 2013BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 28, 2013, from the Arthur Ashe Athletic Center in Richmond, Virginia. On the August 21 episode of Go Time, Legacy Champion Torea defeated World Champion Eddie Crowe, though no titles were on the line. Torea would soon lose the MECCA Legacy Championship at Summertime Showdown, but he rebounded by winning a spot on the Contender Star on a subsequent episode of Blast Zone. This made him eligible to compete in the Supernova Spectacle held five days later on Go Time. Torea ended up winning the match and a shot at the MECCA World Championship at At Your Own Risk, still held by Crowe. Torea incurred the ire of The Circle of Trust after coming to the aid of the legendary Jushin Thunder Liger on September 18, when it looked like Crowe and friends were going to take him out. They in turn tried to take out Torea the next week when he wrestled Dusty Schneble, but the Circle of Trust's rivals The Near Future were able to stop them. Drake Younger and Ronin Fox had been feuding all summer long after Fox betrayed his latest tag team partner, and their hatred showed no signs of slowing down. It didn't help that Fox was undergoing an identity crisis where he would be brooding and ruthless at times and other times positive and fan-friendly, seeming to have no memory of his darker periods. Female competitor Sombre even got involved, telling Fox she knew how he felt the darkness pulling at him, just like it still did for her since her days in The Absence of Light. She seemed to be guiding Fox toward his darker path, but Younger still wanted revenge after the way Fox beat him at Never Say Die. MECCA Authority Cynric was able to help him with that, giving him one more match against Fox at At Your Own Risk and making it Last Man Standing. The feud between the Circle of Trust and the Near Future raged on outside of the World Title picture. Marcus Kavian had lost his Contender Star spot to Gary Kopp at Summertime Showdown, and wanted it back. He was able to get one more match against Kopp in a Best Two out of Three Falls Match for At Your Own Risk, but they weren't the only ones heading toward a showdown. The Pyro Twins had beaten Aaron Glover and Terrence Bolton back at The MECCA Challenge IX, but Glover and Bolton had taken the MECCA World Tag Team Championship from them at Never Say Die. After failing to win the belts back in a four-way TLC Match at Summertime Showdown, the Pyro Twins demanded one more rematch for the titles. They received it, and Cynric decreed that the winners of the six-man tag between the Circle of Trust and the Near Future on September 18 would get to choose the stipulation. The Circle of Trust won, and the Pyro Twins picked a Texas Tornado Match, a type of match that would tip the odds in their favor. Results
At Your Own Risk 2014BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 27, 2014, from the Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio. After nearly winning back the MECCA World Championship at Summertime Showdown and being cheated out of the title, Torea sought a rematch against Drake Younger. Younger accepted a non-title match with Torea, saying he would give him another shot if he won, but if Torea lost, he would have to resign from MECCA competition. Torea accepted, and defeated Younger on the September 10 episode of Go Time. But he wasn't the only one seeking a title shot. Eddie Crowe complained to Cynric that he should get a title shot, since Torea already lost twice to Younger and he won his match at Summertime Showdown. Cynric put him in a match with Jimmy Rave to prove himself, which Crowe won. But his rival Ryan Andrews wasn't finished with him either, and he also wanted a shot at the title. Cynric gave him a match against Gran Akuma, which Andrews won. As a result, Cynric decided to make the title match for At Your Own Risk into a Four Corners Ladder Match. At Summertime Showdown, after Aaron Glover successfully defended his MECCA Legacy Championship, he was congratulated by his girlfriend Melissa Flash and his tag team partner Terrence Bolton. However, Bolton suddenly turned on Glover and left him laying in the middle of the ring. When asked about it, Bolton revealed that he had been the one with the crush on Melissa months ago, and accused Glover of swooping in and stealing her from him and dashing any hopes he had of a relationship. He had to walk around and pretend to be happy for them for months before finally snapping. He said he may not be able to take Flash from him, but he would take the other thing he held dear, the Legacy Title. Bolton won a petition match to earn a shot at the belt, and then helped Naomi Leach perpetrate an attack on Flash on the September 17 edition of Go Time. Bolton and Leach revealed that they were now in a relationship by making out in the middle of the ring. Glover attempted to get payback the next week, three days ahead of their title match at At Your Own Risk, but Bolton ran away and Glover was unable to catch up to him. In June, a couple of masked men attacked Alex Shelley and Brian Kendrick over the course of several weeks. They were eventually unmasked, and revealed to be the returning Irish Airborne, Jake and Dave Crist, now going by the name Ohio is 4 Killers. They were upset at having been cut from MECCA some years past, but now that they had made a name for themselves elsewhere, they were back for revenge on the tag team division. They met Shelley and Kendrick at Punked Out, but the match ended indecisively. They competed in singles matches at Never Say Die, with each team winning a match. The feud continued into August, and Shelley and Kendrick ended up costing Oi4K their chance at the MECCA World Tag Team Championship at Summertime Showdown. Oi4K were enraged, and wanted one more match with Shelley and Kendrick. They accepted the challenge for At Your Own Risk, and were booked into a Dayton Streetfight. Results
At Your Own Risk 2015BackgroundAt Your Own Risk was broadcast live on pay-per-view on September 26, 2015, from the Odeum Expo Center in Chicago, Illinois. Although Torea succeeded in defending the MECCA World Championship against Marcus Kavian at Summertime Showdown, it was marred by interference from Fenris who felt he had been screwed out of the championship in a title match earlier in the month. Eager to silence all doubters about who the true champion was, Torea was willing to take them both on. But fresh off a win where he retired MECCA legend Eddie Crowe, Terrence Bolton threw his name into the mix as well. As a result, MECCA Authority Cynric decided to settle all disputes in one match. He booked the four men in a Four Corners Anything Goes Match for At Your Own Risk, with the World Title at stake. At Summertime Showdown, The Motor City Machine Guns won the vacant MECCA World Tag Team Championship in the finals of a tournament, but their opponents The Pyro Twins were not through with them or the titles. On the September 8 episode of Go Time, they challenged the Machine Guns to a rematch and called them out, but what they got were the former champs The Young Bucks, who had been absent ever since an injury to Matt Jackson caused the belts to be vacated. Things quickly broke down, but the Motor City Machine Guns made an appearance to help the Young Bucks beat down the Pyro Twins. MECCA Authority Cynric put the Bucks and the Pyro Twins in a match on the next show, but it ended indecisively when the tag champs attacked both teams. In response, Cynric decided they would defend the titles against both the Young Bucks and the Pyro Twins at At Your Own Risk in a Three Way Dance. During the tournament to crown new tag champs, Gary Kopp and The Wild Wolf, who had been floundering in the singles division, tried to change their fortunes by teaming up. Unfortunately, they lost in the first round, and that was the breaking point for the Wild Wolf. He attacked Kopp brutally backstage on Go Time, and Kopp retaliated the very next week. They met in a singles match at Summertime Showdown, with Kopp getting the win. But Wolf would attack him again after the match and leave him laying. With their fighting not seeming like it would stop any time soon, Cynric decided that they would have another match, with the winner being able to pick the stipulation of a third match at At Your Own Risk. Kopp won again, and once again was attacked by Wolf after the match. In response, Kopp picked a match where they could fight without interruption and find out once and for all who the best man was. He decided to face Wolf in the Pit Fighter's Paradise, only the second time in MECCA history that match would take place. Results
