History

When MECCA began, its pay-per-view schedule was only bi-monthly. Every other month, a special event would be broadcast to local stations in the Midwest. However, when MECCA signed a deal with FSN in August of 2005 to air Go Time on the network, they also picked up the bi-monthly events, which would air live.

No Regrets 2005

Background

No Regrets was the second bi-monthly special presented by MECCA to air live on FSN. It took place at the Lamborghini Gold Coast Athletic Center, on November 26, 2005. The event was released on DVD via the MECCA website several weeks later.

After winning the MECCA Championship, MECCA's co-owner Nykk decided to concentrate on doing the right thing as champion. He took on all comers, but on the September 27 edition of Go Time, he was found unconscious in the back, the victim of an attack. After finding a bandana that looked to belong to Low Ki at the scene, Nykk initially turned his ire toward him. However, after going to a 60-minute time limit draw against his old enemy-turned-ally Ronin Fox at Scared Stiff, Nykk was attacked again, but saw his attacker. He confronted Fox on November 9, and he admitted to attacking Nykk and planting Ki's bandana, which he had stolen after their match at At Your Own Risk. Fox blindsided Nykk again, having to be held back from permanently injuring him by his own brother Cynric. Nykk agreed to put the title on the line again against Fox at No Regrets, but in a match he devised called an Ironman Pendulum Match.

From the start of MECCA, Joey Sprinklers could not seem to get his footing. He lost match after match, not even winning a single one, until he took on Low Ki on the September 27 edition of Go Time. Thanks to a distraction from Nykk, Joey was able to pin Ki's shoulders to the mat. Enraged, Ki made it his mission in life to destroy Joey Sprinklers, who for his part just tried to stay out of harm's way, even though he and Ki were both part of the initial Stiff Strike Challenge match at Scared Stiff. Ki finally got his one on one rematch with Joey for No Regrets on November 26.

No Regrets 2006

Background

No Regrets was the eighth bi-monthly special presented by MECCA to air live on FSN. It took place at the New Alhambra Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 25, 2006. The event was released on DVD via the MECCA website several weeks later.

In the summer of 2006, the bitter feud between Nykk and Ronin Fox flared up again. Already reeling from the prospect of having to choose between his ownership of the company and his relationship with Lisa Letty, Nykk was in no mood for Fox's taunting and needling on the matter. Nykk teamed with Joey Sprinklers to face Fox and Cynric for their newly won MECCA Tag Team Championship on the August 30 edition of Go Time, though they were unsuccessful. Nykk continued the onslaught on Fox after the match, but Cynric and Joey got involved, allowing Fox to retrieve a metal trash masher from under the ring. He blasted Nykk with it, prompting Lisa to come to his aid. During the ensuing scuffle, Fox accidentally swung the masher into the back of Lisa's neck. She fell to the mat, unconscious. The next week, Nykk revealed that Lisa had been temporarily paralyzed from the neck down, and that he would be taking a couple of months off to fully recover. He said he would be taking time off as well to be with her, but Fox better watch out for his life when he comes back. Nykk disappeared from MECCA, and Fox went on to earn a shot at Eddie Crowe and the MECCA Championship at Scared Stiff. After the match was thrown out due to interference on both sides, Fox complained on the mic, only to have Nykk appear on the stage. He attacked Fox, who fled from the arena. On the next Go Time, Nykk challenged Fox to MECCA's first ever Steel Cage Match at No Regrets. Fox did not respond to the challenge, but Nykk finally cornered him and got acceptance for the challenge after beating Fox down and threatening to crush him with a vending machine.

In late 2006, The Killer Kanines were on a roll and looking to finally capture the MECCA Tag Team Championship. However, David Caldwell had other plans for his vision of David Caldwell Sports Entertainment. He wanted his own men, The CDT to be number one contenders, but when it came time for their match, he scrapped it in favor of his Bikini Quest project. Katie stepped in and named the Kanines the number one contenders. Meanwhile, on the November 15 edition of Go Time, the series of title defenses between all of MECCA's male competitors concluded with Ronin Fox and Cynric defending the tag belts against Toughman Champion Alan Mayse and World Champion Eddie Crowe. Crowe and Mayse won the titles, becoming the first double champions in MECCA history. They were quickly signed to a tag title defense at No Regrets against the Kanines.

In late 2005, new co-owner of MECCA David Caldwell had made it his mission to transform MECCA into David Caldwell Sports Entertainment. Two of his earlier targets were The Surgeons, two no-nonsense technical wrestlers who Caldwell felt weren't charismatic enough to fit into his vision. The Surgeons traded victories with Caldwell's henchmen Stage One, but Caldwell booked them in a Triangle Match at At Your Own Risk against Stage One and the CDT. It turned out to be a glorified handicap match, with the CDT helping Stage One get the win over the Surgeons and joining up with The David Caldwell Project. The Surgeons would go on to defeat the CDT on Go Time, with Walters breaking Concession Boy's jaw with Dreamo's loaded pillowcase. The next week, Dreamo got payback by costing them a match, causing the Surgeons to clap his ears so hard that he lost his hearing. Caldwell decided to book them in a handicap match against the CDT and the blinded Huh at Scared Stiff. Despite their handicaps, the David Cadlwell Project defeated the Surgeons. They attempted to get their revenge on the CDT a couple of weeks later, but were once again attacked by Stage One. A match was booked between the two teams for No Regrets, with the Surgeons wanting an Anything Goes Match. Caldwell accepted, but said if the Surgeons lost, they would be suspended for ninety days without pay. However, Katie Piehl decided to make it fair and add the stipulation that if Stage One lost, their team would have to split up.

No Regrets 2007

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on November 24, 2007.

In 2007, The House of Lords ran roughshod over MECCA. However, by the fall, they seemed to be losing some of their steam. Bryan Danielson ended Ronin Fox's reign as champion, and had been keeping it away from the House of Lords ever since. Sensing his power slipping away, Nykk worked his way into forcing Danielson to defend the title against Alan Mayse at No Regrets by screwing Anubis out of the chance to be in the match. Katie Piehl was tired of Nykk's shenanigans and decided that the title match at No Regrets would be a Triangle Match between Danielson, Mayse and Anubis. However, Nykk wasn't going to be outdone and added Cynric to the match, making it a Four Way Dance.

Nykk had issues of his own to contend with, as his old enemy Austin Lee had returned during the summer and joined The UK Wrecking Crew to go against Nykk and the House of Lords. On November 14, Austin was ambushed as he was about to take on Ronin Fox. Later in the show, Austin's brother Tristan Lee made an appearance, calling out Nykk and Fox. This led to a match between the House of Lords and the Lees, which Austin and Tristan won. Upset that he and Fox were embarrassed in their hometown, Nykk wasted no time in signing on for a rematch at No Regrets.

At At Your Own Risk, thanks to his and Shelirious's victory over Nykk and Lisa Letty, Delirious and Shelirious earned themselves guaranteed title shots. Delirious chose to cash in his shot on the very next Go Time, choosing Matt Sydal as his partner to go for the MECCA Tag Team Championship against The Pyro Twins. Delirious and Sydal managed to pull out the victory, and the Pyro Twins were enraged. They vowed to get the titles back, but before they could act on that, they became the targets of Jay & Mark Briscoe, who had recently signed with MECCA. They were after the tag belts as well, and members of the three teams faced off against each other over the next few weeks. With the Briscoes and Pyro Twins both having good claims to a title shot, it was decided that the three teams would meet in a Three Way Dance at No Regrets with the titles on the line.

No Regrets 2008

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio, on November 29, 2008.

On the October 29 edition of Go Time, Bryan Danielson made a challenge to Anubis for a shot at the MECCA World Heavyweight Championship. Anubis initially accepted, but got cold feet when he mentioned that Danielson was not on the Contender Star. Danielson said he could beat any man on the Contender Star, but Anubis asked if he could beat two, revealing that he called in a favor from The Consulate and got Danielson a Triangle Match against Jamie Chan and Yoshiaki Yago, with the understanding that Danielson would get his shot if he could get on the Contender Star by beating one of them. Despite it being a glorified handicap match, Danielson managed to get the win.

The issue between Katie Piehl and Shadow finally came to an end at Summertime Showdown in a non-sanctioned fight that saw Katie step into the ring as a combatant for the first time. Though Shadow remained a part of The House of Lords, she seemed to develop a grudging respect for Katie in the following weeks. So when Katie and fellow HOL member Lisa Letty had their own issue, Shadow seemed to have a change of heart and was reluctant to help Lisa beat her down. Finally fed up, Shadow left the House of Lords, kicking off a series of confrontations between herself and Lisa. Referring to the fact that MECCA was not big enough for the both of them any more, Lisa proposed a match at No Regrets where the loser would have to leave the company. Wanting to get her hands on Lisa, Shadow accepted the offer.

At At your Own Risk the unlikely team of Ryan and Gary from EEE were able to end the dominant reign of The Briscoes, taking the MECCA Tag Team Championship, though not without some shenanigans from the other members of their group. Enraged at the loss of their titles, the Briscoes vowed to win them back by any means necessary, and won the first-ever tag team Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff in hopes of getting a title shot. Unfortunately, EEE lost the titles before the Briscoes could get their shot, but they still wanted to get their hands on Ryan and Gary. A rematch was then signed for No Regrets.

No Regrets 2009

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles, California, on November 28, 2009. The event theme song was "Take It" by the Genitorturers.

In November of 2009, Anubis was in his nineteenth month as the World Champion. In order to determine his next challenger, a Supernova Spectacle main evented the November 4 edition of Go Time. Ronin Fox would come out on top and earn a shot at the MECCA World Heavyweight Championship at No Regrets. Fox vowed to be the man to finally take Anubis down, while Anubis insisted the belt wasn't going anywhere.

As No Regrets approached, several women in the ladies' division tried to get in position to challenge Shadow for the MECCA Ladies' Championship. Shadow's old rival and former champion Naomi Leach got the nod after defeating Sara Del Rey and Nevaeh in a Triangle Match. However, it was announced that Naomi had injured her arm during training. Katie Piehl held a Four Corners Match to determine who would get the title shot at No Regrets, and the recently returning Allison Danger came out on top.

Having won the feud against his brother, Austin Lee was looking to move on to the World Title. He was a member of the Contender Star and it was announced he would be in the Supernova Spectacle to determine the number one contender. But he oculdn't help but have words with Robbie Reno, who had recently announced the dissolution of Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon. Reno couldn't tolerate Austin mocking his frat brothers, and a fight broke out. Austin retaliated the next week, but ended up losing the Supernova Spectacle. On November 11, he teamed with Anubis and Daniel Cubman to take on Robbie Reno and The Creation. Though they would brawl out of the arena, Lee would return after the match to attack Nykk as he was getting his hand raised. Reno then made the save, and it was his turn to lay out Austin.

No Regrets 2010

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Mattamy Athletic Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on November 27, 2010.

In November of 2010, Jimmy Jacobs was picking up steam with his Absence of Light group. He was slated to face the returning Jay Crowe at No Regrets, who he had put out of action back in August, but his first priority was the MECCA World Championship. He managed to exploit Nykk's weakened knee during a No DQ Match on the November 17 edition of Go Time and walk away with the title, blackening it to fit the image of his new group. This threw the card for No Regrets into disarray as Nykk was scheduled to defend his title against Toughman Champion Ryan Andrews on the show. MECCA authority Katie Piehl decided to hold a Four Corners Match between Jacobs, Nykk, Crowe, and Andrews on November 24. If Jacobs won, he would get to pick his opponent for the pay-per-view. If Andrews lost, he would have to defend his Toughman Title, but if he won he would get a World Title shot against Jacobs, and if either Nykk or Crowe could beat Andrews and take his Contender Star spot, they would get the World Title shot against Jacobs. Jay Crowe ended up winning the match by pinning Andrews, meaning he would still have his match against Jacobs at No Regrets with the title now on the line, and Andrews would have to defend the Toughman Title against Nykk.

After becoming a three-time Ladies' Champion, Naomi Leach ran into some problems with Sassy Stephie. Though she defeated Stephie at Scared Stiff, it was close, as Naomi saved her title only by getting one finger on the bottom rope. Stephie sought a rematch and received it on the November 10 Go Time. Naomi once again saved her title with a finger on the ropes, and went on to win the match. Afterward, Stephie snapped and attacked Naomi, tying her hand in the ropes. She retrieved a pair of box cutters and attempted to cut Naomi's finger off, being stopped after drawing blood by officials. Naomi quickly sought one more match with Stephie, this time at No Regrets. Naomi didn't want to wait for No Regrets and attacked Stephie during an interview the next week, but officials separated the two.

After winning the MECCA World Tag Team Championship for the fourth time, The UK Wrecking Crew were riding high, but they were ultimately betrayed by their friends Deep Impact after winning an eight-man tag team match on the November 3 edition of Go Time. Naturally Deep Impact's goal was the championship, but Katie Piehl was not happy with how they acted. Instead, she gave them a non-title match against the UK Wrecking Crew and said they could seek a title shot if they won. Deep Impact accepted this, but were attacked by the UKWC later in the night.

No Regrets 2011

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 26, 2011.

Upon winning the battle royale back at Scared Stiff, Marcus Kavian began seeking the opportunity promised to the winner. After a victory over his rival, Austin Lee on the November 16 episode of Go Time, Kavian was granted a shot against World Champion Eddie Crowe for No Regrets. His momentum was immediately halted by Crowe, who blasted him in the face with the title belt in a sneak attack. After a six-man tag the following week, Crowe attempted another ambush, but was given a receipt when he was knocked out by the title belt wielded by Kavian.

The Anubis and Ryan Andrews feud had been raging since the summer with seemingly no end in sight. Anubis had been put out with an injured groin, and even winning a match against Andrews at At Your Own Risk brought him no satisfaction when he was attacked in retaliation afterward. Andrews even volunteered for the Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff in order to avoid revenge from Anubis, but Anubis managed to work his way into that match, which Andrews ended up winning. With Anubis frustrated at not getting his payback, and Andrews sick of being stalked by Anubis, on the next episode of Go Time Anubis made the challenge for a Steel Cage Match to settle it once and for all at No Regrets. With his confidence at a high due to defeating Anubis twice and also winning the Stiff Strike Challenge, Andrews agreed and the match was set for November 26.

Although High Def had been able to keep Upstarts International from winning their MECCA World Tag Team Championship, it was increasingly difficult due to there being three members of Upstarts International. On the November 2 edition of Go Time, Ronin Foxtook exception to Upstarts International disparaging High Def and dressed them down in the locker room. Still steamed about being unable to regain the MECCA World Championship, Fox issued an open challenge for any of them to face him in the ring. Fox won the match against Reno, but was beaten down by all three members afterward. The next week, Fox caught Caron backstage and beat him up, but was pounced on by the rest of the group. High Def came to Fox's aid, and the fight was eventually broken up. A six-man tag was signed for No Regrets shortly after.

No Regrets 2012

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio, on November 24, 2012.

At Scared Stiff, Marcus Kavian regained the MECCA World Championship. On the November 7 episode of Go Time, he teamed with Aaron Glover against former champion Ronin Fox and Low Ki, with Ki getting the win over the World Champion. He was named the new number one contender, with his title match set for No Regrets.

At Scared Stiff, Ronin Fox was defeated for the MECCA World Championship by Marcus Kavian of The Near Future. Seizing on an opportunity, Aaron Glover took it upon himself to take out Fox after the match, dropping him on his head with a suplex on the steel ramp leading to the ring. After his match on the following episode of Go Time, Fox attacked Glover in the ring as retaliation, chasing him out of the arena. Fox stated he still intended to win the World Title back, but in the meantime his new target was Aaron Glover. Their one on one match was soon announced for No Regrets. Fox continued to hound Glover over the next couple of weeks, including being part of thwarting a Near Future attack on Jack Evans. But Glover always ran away with his stablemates, ensuring that if Fox wanted his revenge he would have to get it at the pay-per-view.

After losing his Contender Star spot on October 31, Gary Kopp set his sights on the fairly new MECCA Legacy Championship, held by Alex Shelley. He spoke to MECCA Authority Cynric and was a late insert into a singles match, making it a petition match for a shot at the title. Kopp won, and was given a title match for No Regrets. He and The Circle of Trust wasted no time in upping their chances of bringing home gold as Kopp attacked Shelley with a chair after his match the very next week.

No Regrets 2013

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, on November 30, 2013.

The feud between The Near Future and The Circle of Trust had been raging all year and was about to come to a head when a Perimeter of Pain Match was announced for End of the Line in December. But first, the two leaders of the factions, Marcus Kavian and Eddie Crowe wanted to settle things personally. They had each gotten a win in pay-per-view main events during the course of the year, and wanted a rubber match. Though neither man held the MECCA World Championship any longer, this would be about pride and getting major momentum for their faction heading into the Perimeter of Pain, and their rubber match was quickly signed for No Regrets. Meanwhile, the rest of their factions would be kept busy as the Circle of Trust met the Near Future in a six-man tag team match.

Fenris had been on a roll ever since his transformation from Ronin Fox. He had defeated Drake Younger to end their feud, taken on Sombre as his handler and spokeswoman, and gotten back onto the Contender Star at Scared Stiff. His next stop was the World Title, which made his target the new champion Torea. Fenris felt Torea owed him for bringing him back in the main event of last year's End of the Line, giving him the springboard to have one of the best years any MECCA competitor had ever had. Torea was eager to prove himself as champion, and the match was signed for No Regrets at the end of the month.

Ladies' Champion Melissa Flash had met perhaps her toughest opponent to date with Naomi Leach. Though Flash came out victorious in their match at Scared Stiff, it was a bit controversial, and Leach responded by stealing the MECCA Ladies' World Championship to goad Flash into giving her a rematch. Flash definitely wanted Leach in the ring, but others wanted a title shot too. Serena Deeb and Kellie Skater had just finished a feud of their own, and both wanted a title shot. MECCA Authority Cynric decided that all three women would get a shot at the title, and a Four Corners Match was signed for No Regrets.

No Regrets 2014

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Gwinnett Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 29, 2014.

Ever since returning from injury, World Champion Marcus Kavian had kept out of the feud between his former stablemates Aaron Glover and Terrence Bolton. But after having his secret revealed, that he had been the one responsible for Torea being attacked and missing his shot at regaining the MECCA World Championship, Kavian's attitude changed. He seemed to favor Bolton's side of the feud, especially after Glover became the top contender to the World Title and earned a chance at the title for No Regrets. Kavian fired shots when he cost Glover the MECCA Legacy Championship on November 19 against Bolton. Glover tried to get a measure of payback the next week in a six-man tag, but though he won the match, was ultimately unable to get his hands on Kavian.

After being cost his match against Eddie Crowe at Scared Stiff by The Circle of Trust, Ryan Andrews was bent on payback. Eddie followed up by costing The Peacemakers a chance at regaining the MECCA World Tag Team Championship on October 29, but Andrews cornered Eddie backstage and beat him up until Jimmy Rave and Gary Kopp intervened. The next week, Andrews challenged Crowe to settle their feud in a steel cage at No Regrets. To ensure Crowe accepted, Andrews cost him his spot on the Contender Star later that night. His plan worked, and Eddie accepted the challenge for No Regrets.

After mounting losses in the tag team division, Alex Shelley became disenfranchised with his partner Brian Kendrick. Their problems began to spill over into their matches, causing them to lose even more. Shelley began branching out on his own, and made it onto the Contender Star, making him even more disinterested in the team. But Shelley's insecurities reared their head, and he requested a match against Kendrick at No Regrets to find out who was better. The request was granted, and Kendrick confronted Shelley about it to ask if that was what he really wanted. Shelley said yes, and said win or lose there would be no hard feelings. Their camaraderie fell apart on November 26, however, when Kendrick accidentally cost Shelley his spot on the Contender Star, causing a shouting match after the match.

No Regrets 2015

Background

No Regrets was broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Michael J. Hagan Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 28, 2015.

On September 29, Terrence Bolton dethroned Torea for the MECCA World Championship, but needed outside interference to do it. Torea got payback the very next week in Bolton's first title defense, causing him to lose the belt to The Wild Wolf. Bolton was able to win back the title at Scared Stiff, but Torea was waiting for him, demanding his rematch. Torea was soon granted his title shot at No Regrets, and Torea vowed to not let what happen against Bolton before happen again.

At Scared Stiff, Kevin Stone made an unexpected return to MECCA after an absence of over seven years. After an unseen argument, he laid out Fenris in the back just before he was set to go to the ring for the Stiff Strike Challenge. MECCA Authority Cynric made a snap decision to put Stone in the match in Fenris's place, and Stone went on to win. He went on an unbeaten streak over the next few weeks, while Fenris seethed about being cost a chance to win the Stiff Strike Challenge, which was usually a big launching point for the career of whoever won it. On the November 3 edition of Go Time, Fenris retaliated by ambushing Stone with a chair, but Stone was able to fight him off and give chase. Stone demanded a match with Fenris on the next week's show, and Cynric gave it to him for No Regrets.

Ryan Andrews was riding high at the beginning of November, holding the MECCA Legacy Championship and holding the MECCA World Tag Team Championship with Torea. But on November 3, he was challenged by Marcus Kavian in MECCA's first ever Go Time in Mexico. Kavian ended up winning the Legacy Title after interference from his cohort Terrence Bolton. On the next week's show in Mexico City, Bolton defended his World Title against special guest Rey Mysterio. After pinning the Mexican legend, Kavian came to the ring and they tried to take out Mysterio, only for Torea and Andrews to make the save. Andrews wanted his belt back, and won a petition match to receive his rematch. He was granted his title shot for No Regrets, but Marcus Kavian was adamant that he was going to hang onto the Legacy Championship for a long time to come.
