WrestlingRevolution

WrestlingRevolution was a professional wrestling event, set to be the marquee show for the professional wrestling promotion Renegade Championship Wrestling before its demise in early 2005. It played host to RCW's biggest matches of the year and settled some of its biggest rivalries. Both events that were held took place in Dayton, Ohio, and were held on May 15 in their respective years.

History

When RCW began as FPPVW, it held the Premiere Showcase as its first event in 2003, which was a disaster. With FPPVW gaining traction amongst fans and sponsors over the next few months, the company began to build toward its first anniversary show in May 2004 as its marquee event, the flagship show the year would be built around. Two months prior, the event Gauntlet was held to determine the number one contender to the FPPVW Championship, and a unification match for the promotion's two disparate tag championships was also set to be held at the event, plus a number of other matches to settle feuds and grudges that had been ongoing.

WrestlingRevolution

Background

WrestlingRevolution was the one year anniversary event for FPPVW. It took place at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum in Dayton, Ohio, on May 15, 2004. The event was aired locally on DATV, and included special guest hosts Shawn, Greg, and Henrique from the local cable access show Geek Speak.

Back at Pain and Glory in February, Alan Mayse won the FPPVW Championship for the third time. He picked up right where he left off, taking on any challengers who came his way. But on March 13, FPPVW held Gauntlet, and Austin Lee won the eponymous match for the right to face the FPPVW Champion at WrestlingRevolution, FPPVW's first anniversary show, in two months. Austin scored two pinfall victories over Mayse in the weeks leading up to the show, causing many to wonder if Mayse would be able to kick out of Lee's deadly Degenerate Driver. Lee also made an agreement with Nykk and his Heel Stable faction to have their personal referee, David Caldwell, officiate the match with Mayse. But with Caldwell injured earlier in the night, that never came to fruition.

In early 2004, there started to be noise about FPPVW instituting a Tag Team Championship. Tired of waiting and wishing to steal the glory for his own faction, Nykk introduced his stablemates The Pyro Twins on his Nykk Show talk segment on February 20, and they came out wearing title belts. Nykk proclaimed them the FPPVW Tag Team Champions, claiming they had won a tournament in Rio De Janeiro the previous week. FPPVW owner Jon Z was furious, but Nykk had paid off FPPVW official David Caldwell to call the tournament matches and had tricked Jon into signing off on it the previous week, making it official. There was seemingly nothing Jon could do, until he declared his intent to crown his own tag champs and institute the Ohio Tag Team Championship. He set up an eight-team, double elimination tournament, with the finals set for the Countdown event in April. The Pyro Twins' rivals The Eccentrics won the tournament and became the Ohio Tag Team Champions. The Pyro Twins jumped the Eccentrics on the following episode of Foundation, severely burning their manager Pinky by throwing two fireballs in her face. Jon Z wasted no time in making a match to settle the score between the teams at WrestlingRevolution and also unifying the two sets of titles to crown FPPVW's true Tag Team Champions. In one last gambit, the Heel Stable managed to get their personal referee David Caldwell as the official for the match.

Ever since they met in the main event of Premiere Showcase, Nykk and Ronin Fox had been at one another's throats. Their main concern was the FPPVW Championship, and they traded wins back and forth for months in their pursuit or defense of the title. But things came to a head at Gauntlet, when Nykk and Fox met in a Dayton Death Match, presumably to settle the score once and for all. But Nykk went too far and used his Aurora Driver, a move that had been banned by FPPVW, to drop Fox on his head. Fox went limp and couldn't move his limbs and had to be stretchered out of the arena. Nykk bragged about injuring Fox over the following weeks, and due to his win, he was given a title shot against FPPVW Champion Alan Mayse at Countdown. Nykk looked to do the same thing to Mayse he did to Fox, but Fox made his unexpected return at the event, costing Nykk the match and the title. An enraged Nykk confronted Fox on the next episode of Foundation, but Fox revealed that he was healed from the Dayton Death Match and that he had been given a match with Nykk in three weeks at WrestlingRevolution. But it turned out Fox was more hurt than he was letting on, and Jon Z brought him out to cancel the match on May 14, one night before it was to take place. But he gave Fox another option: he could make the match unsanctioned by RCW if Fox would sign a waiver absolving himself and the company of any liability to injuries he could incur. Fox agreed, which brought out Nykk, who pointed out that since the match was now unsanctioned, it meant no holds were barred. Even banned ones. Nykk and the Heel Stable then attacked Fox, and Nykk tried to give him the Aurora Driver again, but several of Fox's friends made the save to prevent it.

WrestlingRevolution II

Background

In early 2005, FPPVW, now Renegade Championship Wrestling, went dark when Jon Z allegedly embezzled what he could from the company and left the country. By this time, Nykk had already started the promotion MECCA, which picked up where RCW had left off under a new banner. But in order to give the fans of RCW some closure, they decided to hold WrestlingRevolution II on May 15 from the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum in Dayton, Ohio. Some of the matches had been planned before the company went under, but mostly it was just booked as a farewell to the company. The event was not televised or broadcast on pay-per-view, but was taped for later DVD release.
