Professional wrestling career
Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2005-present)
In the Beginning
Nykk and Ronin Fox were lifelong friends from Bellbrook, Ohio, who broke into the wrestling business in the early 2000s, training under Jon Z, who went on to form FPPVW/RCW. In their earliest independent matches, they would team together, but were often booked as opponents, and that's where a rift occurred. It got to the point where in RCW Nykk tried to end the career of Ronin Fox, and they had many wars against one another. Despite this, when Nykk started MECCA, he brought Fox in as a talent. He tried to pull a fast one and name them the number one contenders for the MECCA Championship on the first episode of Go Time on January 4, 2005. However, the co-owner of MECCA, Katie Piehl squashed that idea, instead booking a Round Robin Challenge between the top five contenders that would play out over the coming months. Instead, she teamed Nykk with Fox against the duo of Ace Steel and CM Punk in the main event. Nykk and Fox spent the match trying to cost one another the match rather than win, and Nykk finally succeeded in getting Fox to be pinned by Punk. As the months went by, Nykk and Fox found themselves on the same side often, and also would continue their rivalry, which grew very personal again when Fox accidentally temporarily paralyzed Nykk's girlfriend Lisa Letty in the summer of 2006. But with Nykk's love for Lisa running contrary to the anti-nepotism clause in his contract, he was forced to sell his share of the company, which ended up being to the grasping hanger-on David Caldwell.
Caldwell wasted no time in trying to turn MECCA into "David Caldwell Sports Entertainment," which ran in opposition to Nykk's original vision for the promotion. Upon his return to the ring after taking time off to care for Letty, Nykk fought against Caldwell and his faction The David Caldwell Project, along with allies who were in MECCA because they appreciated the art and sport of wrestling. It came to a head at The MECCA Challenge III, when Katie Piehl and David Caldwell put their stake in the company up for grabs in the Ultimate MECCA Challenge. Due to some legal finagling, Caldwell managed to exclude Nykk from Piehl's team, and the only way for him to compete was for Piehl to sign over her ownership to him, which she did on what she thought was a temporary basis. At the event in New York City, Nykk and his team defeated the David Caldwell Project, putting all the power in Nykk's hands. Meanwhile, Ronin Fox had turned his back on the fans and become a villain, working his way up to a World Title shot against Eddie Crowe later that night. After Eddie won the match, Nykk came out to counter the interference of Cynric, or so it seemed. Upon Eddie's victory, Fox attacked him after the match, and Lisa Letty got in the ring, seemingly to take it to Fox. Instead, to everyone's shock, she hit Eddie low and she and Fox embraced in the middle of the ring. Nykk came back out, seemingly betrayed, but he also embraced Fox. The three then proceeded to beat up every MECCA competitor who came out to try and stop them from harming Eddie any further. On the next episode of Go Time, Nykk stated that he and Fox had buried the hatchet long ago, and that he and Lisa never forgot how Katie Piehl forced him to choose between the love of his life and his passion for the business. He was now the sole owner of MECCA, and he, Lisa, and Fox declared themselves the House of Lords.
Over the next couple of months, the House of Lords added Fox's brother Cynric, as well as their old friends and co-workers from RCW like The Pyro Twins, Shadow, Huh, Joey Sprinklers, and Alan Mayse to their group. They ran roughshod over MECCA, winning all the titles, until the other members of the roster banded together to oppose them. Nykk and Fox teamed occasionally during this time, but were still not an official team. They worked their way into tag title contention in late November, and on the December 12 episode of Go Time, they won the MECCA Tag Team Championship from Delirious and Matt Sydal. The House of Lords was starting to fall apart at this time, and Nykk decided to downsize their members by half, retaining Fox since they held the titles together. Nykk would also go on to win the MECCA World Championship, making him a double champion. However, on the February 27 episode of Go Time, he and Fox lost the tag titles to The Briscoes. Nykk continued to concentrate on defending the World Title, but at The MECCA Challenge IV he was defeated by Anubis.
Organization in Tatters
With the House of Lords' power broken after the MECCA Challenge, Nykk and Fox both took a step back from the title picture and started to team more frequently. They defeated The Lee Brothers at New Dawn and then faced The Killer Kanines in the main event of Punked Out. They came out the victors in the match, earning them both World Title matches, but they were unable to dethrone the dominant Egyptian. In August, they won a tag team battle royale to earn their rematch against the Briscoes at Summertime Showdown. But again, Nykk and Fox were unable to walk away with the gold. After that, they rekindled their feuds with Eddie Crowe and Bryan Danielson, who Nykk had won the World Title from earlier in the year, throughout the fall. But they once again lost to their rivals in a tag team match at Scared Stiff.
Nykk and Fox were looking to turn things around for themselves and the rest of the House of Lords, and the opportunity seemingly came around the holidays, when the Round Robin Faction War was announced. It would be a Round Robin Challenge between the various factions prevalent in MECCA in elimination tag team matches with participants randomly selected. Each survivor of the match would earn the faction one point, and the two factions with the most points would meet at The MECCA Challenge V in April, with the winning faction earning each member a title shot of their choice. However, the three lowest scoring factions would be forced to disband. The House of Lords took an early lead, but The Consulate soon took a commanding lead, which eventually left the House of Lords and Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon tied at second place. Their Round Robin match took place at Melee in an eight-man tag, which EEE won. The House of Lords would now be forced to disband, but they were allowed to split up into separate tag teams. On the next episode of Go Time, Nykk, Fox, and the Pyro Twins planned a farewell celebration for the House of Lords, but when it came time, Nykk and Fox turned on their old friends, bludgeoning them in the middle of the ring. Nykk and Fox stated that they were sick and tired of Jay and Dusty after all these years, and they wanted to take the MECCA Tag Team Championship, which the Pyro Twins held.
The Creation
Nykk and Fox rebranded themselves as the Creation, being the two men most responsible for the creation of the MECCA landscape. They met the Pyro Twins for the titles at the MECCA Challenge V, but the Pyro Twins came out on top with a win, and also in the rematch at New Dawn. However, a new threat had emerged, as Bryan Danielson was playing a game in his own self interest to create conflict between MECCA and Ring of Honor, who they had enjoyed a talent sharing relationship with for years. Danielson and his ROH cohorts began wreaking havoc in MECCA, and Nykk and Fox stood up to them, putting them back in the good graces of the fans. The feud came to a head at Summertime Showdown in a Perimeter of Pain Match, with Nykk and Fox leading their team of Eddie Crowe, Gary, and Robbie against Team ROH. Nykk and Fox were the winners at the end, after Nykk finally beat his old rival Danielson in his last MECCA match to win.
However, Nykk had made other enemies during the feud also. In an attempt to get a rematch with ROH World Champion Austin Aries, Nykk had beaten up Kavian to take his place in a match. As a result, Kavian and his partner Torea would be seen in the rafters week after week, stalking Nykk has he came to the ring. They finally struck in late September, leaving Nykk at ringside bleeding before a six-man tag. Nykk and Fox wanted them in the ring, but first they received a chance at regaining the Tag Team Championship. On the October 14 edition of Go Time, they beat The Consulate to win the titles. They immediately put them on the line to get Bloodlust in the ring at Scared Stiff. It was a chaotic match, and ended with Nykk getting his team disqualified to hurt Kavian and Torea. Nykk and Fox would eventually lose the titles to Bloodlust as part of a Triangle Match at End of the Line. Citing that they were not pinned in that match, the Creation received a rematch in a No DQ Match at Ignition the next month, but Bloodlust retained the titles. The Creation was not done with the tag team scene, however, and by April they worked their way back into contention and took on the new champions The Invincible Outlaws at The MECCA Challenge VI in a losing effort.
After that event, the Creation began to team less and less as the pursued their own individual goals again, with Nykk concentrating on mentoring The Wild Wolf and Fox concentrating on a rivalry with Ares. Nykk would go on to Summertime Showdown to win the World Title for the third time, and he and Fox began feuding with The Absence of Light. In October, Fox was put out with an injury. By the time he came back, Nykk had lost the World Title and brutally turned on the Wild Wolf, trying to end his career at End of the Line. Fox wanted nothing to do with their team after seeing that, and they went their separate ways. They did meet in the ring as opponents one more time in April, weeks before Nykk's career-ending match against Wolf at The MECCA Challenge VII. Fox came out the winner, putting their decade-spanning rivalry and friendship to an end once and for all.
