Professional wrestling career
Early career
Austin and Tristan Lee are biological brothers, and grew up together in London, England. They had a troubled childhood involving poverty and an alcoholic, abusive father, and would often get into fights on the street due to living in a bad part of town. But they persevered, and eventually discovered a love for wrestling. Austin started training after his seventeenth birthday, and eventually moved to the United States, where he hooked up with Jon Z and RCW. Tristan followed in his brother's footsteps a few years later, but by the time he came over RCW was gone. Austin had gotten a developmental deal with WWE, but Tristan was unable to secure one for himself. He plied the independent circuit, and caught the attention of MECCA, which was run by many of Austin's acquaintances and friends from RCW. He began working for them in 2006, and eventually signed a contract. About a year later, Austin was released from WWE, and signed with MECCA as well.
Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2007-2014)
MECCA Loyalists
Austin made his debut on the July 4, 2007, episode of Go Time, saving The UK Wrecking Crew, which included his brother Tristan, from an attack by The House of Lords, which was led by Austin's old enemy from RCW, Nykk. Although debuting as a singles competitor, he did team with the UKWC at Summertime Showdown, losing to the House of Lords in an eight-man tag. The UKWC disbanded when Andy Nathans's and Jack Fletcher's deals expired, leaving only the Lees. They continued to fight against the House of Lords, and made their debut as a team on the October 24, 2007, episode of Go Time in a losing effort against The Surgeons. They turned things around, however, and did their part to take booking power away from the House of Lords in a Best of Five Series at End of the Line. They teamed with Matt Sydal and Delirious to defeat members of the House of Lords in an eight-man tag, scoring a point for MECCA's side.
In February, Tristan was approached by manager Prince Nana about joining his Consulate faction, but Tristan refused. Nana came back with a more generous offer, but again Tristan said no. An enraged Nana had his recent signees the Surgeons attack Tristan and lay him out on the ring. Tristan wanted payback at Bloody Valentine, but his brother was busy with a title match. So he asked Jamie Chan, whose career was starting to take off, to be his partner. Chan accepted, and they met the Surgeons at the event. But Chan betrayed his partner, leading to a Surgeons victory. Afterward, Chan confirmed that he had accepted an offer from Nana and was now part of the Consulate. Tristan went to war with the Consulate, which dragged in his brother. They teamed up at The MECCA Challenge IV, but lost to the Surgeons. The Lees would continue to compete against the House of Lords and Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon throughout the summer, but after World Champion Anubis cheapshotted Austin in their title match at Summertime Showdown, Tristan was dragged into their rivalry, along with Anubis's former partner and best friend, The Wild Wolf. Anubis would go on to defeat both Lees in championship matches over the summer and fall.
Breakup and Feud
In early 2009, Tristan began to have a change of attitude. He seemed to resent his brother when he had once revered him. Tristan scored a couple of huge upsets over more experienced competitors, causing MECCA authority Katie Piehl to take notice. Austin was in line for a title shot as well, and Katie booked them in a match on March 11 for a shot at Anubis at Melee. The match was thrown out when Anubis assaulted both men, and Katie responded by making the title match a Triangle match. However, Anubis was able to retain his title over both men. The Lees got into an argument on the following Go Time that ended with Tristan assaulting his brother in the locker room. This led to a match at The MECCA Challenge V, which Austin won. All the anger seemed to disappear from Tristan after the match, and he embraced his brother on a match well fought. With their issues seemingly behind them, they concentrated on becoming the Tag Team Champions, but were unable to defeat the Consulate at New Dawn. They received a rematch in their home country of England on June 10, but Austin suddenly turned on his brother during the match, allowing the Consulate to get the pin. Austin hospitalized Tristan after the match, as well as brutalized several officials, leading to Katie Piehl suspending him indefinitely for his conduct. Austin's suspension was lifted on August 5, and Austin explained that he did what he did because Tristan had been trying to undermine his career for months, and Austin wasn't going to forget just because Tristan had a change of heart. He warned his brother to stay away from MECCA, or he would do much worse to him than he already did.
Undaunted, Tristan returned from his injuries the next week and confronted his brother. A brawl erupted, and a match was made for Summertime Showdown. Tristan managed to sneak in a victory, but Austin got the last laugh, once again attacking Tristan after the match, causing him to be stretchered out. Tristan wouldn't be denied, and was back in action soon, challenging his brother again. They met in a Falls Count Anywhere match at At Your Own Risk, which Austin won after powerbombing Tristan from the entrance stage through a bunch of equipment on the floor. They met one more time in a Last Man Standing match at Scared Stiff, with Austin defeating his brother to end the feud.
Family Reunion
In early 2012, Austin was involved in a bitter rivalry against the dominant Near Future faction. They began to ridicule Austin's family and upbringing, which drew the ire of Tristan. He and Austin began talking again, and on the February 8 episode of Go Time, Austin showed up to be Tristan's partner in his match against the Crowe Brothers, reuniting the Lees. They worked their way into title contention, but were unable to unseat The Peacemakers for the MECCA World Tag Team Championship. Austin ended up winning the MECCA World Championship at The MECCA Challenge VIII, and their team was put on hold as Austin defended the title, with his brother backing him up. Once Austin lost the title in July, they began teaming again on a more regular basis.
By November, they worked their way back into title contention and received a title shot after winning a Four Corners Match at No Regrets. On the next episode of Go Time, they defeated Aaron Glover and Terrence Bolton to win the titles. They defeated their old rivals the Peacemakers at End of the Line, and Bolton and Glover in a rematch at Ignition at the start of 2013. However, their old enemies The Circle of Trust came calling, and The Pyro Twins defeated the Lees for the belts at Six-Man Melee. Austin and Tristan worked hard to get back into contention, winning a Triangle Match at Kick Start and a tag team battle royale at The MECCA Challenge IX. They received their rematch with the Pyro Twins at New Dawn, which was contested under Texas Tornado rules, but lost. They continued to fight back against the Pyro Twins along with their friends The Wild Wolf and Amazing Red, and both teams received a title shot in a Triangle Match on the June 26 episode of Go Time. The Pyro Twins still managed to retain, and the Lees started growing frustrated. They faced off against Wolf and Red in a friendly contest at Never Say Die, but after winning attacked their opponents.
The Lees marked their attitude change by pretentiously beginning to refer to themselves as The Brothers Lee, and over the next few weeks were manipulated by Ronin Fox into helping him in his feud with Drake Younger. However, at Summertime Showdown, the Brothers Lee and Fox were defeated by Younger, Wolf, and Red in a six-man tag. The Lees struggled to maintain their status as a top tag team, and in the fall began to branch out into the singles division again.
Departure
After unsuccessfully competing in the 6MM match at Six-Man Melee, Austin and Tristan looked to get another shot at the tag titles. They had some success, and MECCA Authority Cynric put them in a Four Corners tag match at The MECCA Challenge X against The Young Bucks, Alex Shelley and Brian Kendrick, and Low Ki and Gran Akuma. The Lees were unsuccessful, and Austin left MECCA a couple of weeks later when his contract expired. Tristan stuck around for a few more months until his contract expired in the fall. He followed his brother to pursue other opportunities in wrestling.
