HistoryWhen MECCA was formed in early 2005, little time was wasted in establishing championships. For the Tag Team Titles, MECCA co-owner Katie Piehl decided to invite teams from MECCA and all over the world to compete in an International Invitational double elimination tournament, with the finals being held on April 30, 2005, at The MECCA Challenge. Teams representing the USA, UK, Japan, Mexico, and Canada all entered the tournament, with the finals coming down to the United Kingdom's UK Wrecking Crew competing against the USA's Reckless Abandon. The UK Wrecking Crew won the match and became the first champions. The Briscoes hold the longest title reign thus far, at 216 days. Eddie Crowe and Alan Mayse have the shortest reign, at only 21 days. The Pyro Twins hold the record for the most title wins, at seven reigns. Ryan Andrews holds the record for the individual with the most reigns, winning the titles five times with multiple partners. When The CDT defended the titles in Toronto, Canada, at Melee on March 17, 2007, the titles officially became world championships. Reigns
