Professional wrestling career

Early career

Allan Charles grew up in the state of Louisiana, and got into football and amateur wrestling while in high school. He would go on to attend Louisiana State University on a wrestling scholarship, but dropped out to pursue his dream of being a professional wrestler. He moved to the Dayton, Ohio, area to attend the MECCA Training Camp under Nykk and Ronin Fox. He graduated and began working behind the scenes of MECCA in security, ring crew, and other odd jobs. He also began to take bookings at independent wrestling shows around the country.

Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2015-present)

Undefeated

Charles signed a contract with MECCA as a performer in late 2015. He was brought in with Nykk as his manager, and billed as AC Sledge. His first appearance was on the November 17 episode of Go Time, where at Nykk's encouragement he attacked Pepper Parks and The Hammerhead Kid during their match, laying them both out. The next week he attacked Jake Crist as he was having a stand off with his brother, giving him the same treatment. On December 1, he made his in-ring debut with a quick win over Adam Brooks. Two weeks later, he defeated the Hammerhead Kid and also laid out his partner, Shark Boy. They wanted payback on Sledge for the attacks and challenged him to a Handicap Match at End of the Line four days later. Sledge and Nykk accepted, and Sledge defeated both men at the pay-per-view. Sledge continued his undefeated streak throughout the winter, defeating men like Jake Crist, Brandon Blade, Chris Peake, and Kenny Omega. He found himself on the Contender Star and won a Supernova Spectacle on the March 1 edition of Go Time. This gained him a shot at the MECCA World Championship at Kick Start against Kevin Stone. Seeing the help Nykk provided Sledge to get him the win in the Supernova Spectacle, Stone brought in Taz, who had been somewhat of a secret mentor to him during his comeback, to be in his corner and counteract Nykk at the pay-per-view. After trying to help his manager from being choked out by Taz on the floor, Sledge then suffered his first loss to Stone, though his foot was under the ropes when the pinfall was counted.

Climbing the Company Ladder

Sledge and Nykk were incensed at the outcome of his title match, and Sledge went on a rampage, attacking competitors in the ring, which forced MECCA Authority Cynric to intervene. Since Sledge felt he was screwed out of a fair title match, he wanted in on The MECCA Challenge XII main event, which was already a Triangle Match between Stone, Ryan Andrews, and Torea. Cynric said if he could beat Andrews the next week, he would think about putting him in the title match, but only if he could conduct himself professionally. On April 12, Sledge defeated Andrews after interference from Torea, who didn't want another challenger in the title match, backfired. But Sledge would come out in the main event to cost Stone a win in a six-man tag, once again acting unprofessionally. Unsure of what to do, Cynric left the decision up to Stone, who allowed Sledge into the title match to silence any doubts that he was the true champion. At the MECCA Challenge, Sledge was the first man eliminated in the Four Way Dance after his three opponents ganged up on him and Stone made him pass out to his submission finisher. Enraged, Sledge laid out his opponents before leaving ringside.

Also at the MECCA Challenge, Fenris defeated his brother Cynric for the position as Authority of MECCA. He reverted back to being Ronin Fox, but his authority was met with resistance by The Pyro Twins, who ended up attacking Fox over his refusal to grant them a rematch for the MECCA World Tag Team Championship they had lost, and attempted to set him on fire. To prevent anything like that from happening again, on May 17 Fox introduced Sledge as his new personal bodyguard. An angry Nykk confronted them, but when he accosted Fox he was quickly dispatched by his former client Sledge. Fox had also changed his mind about the Pyro Twins, granting them a rematch against Skywatch in a Ladder Match at New Dawn. However, Sledge came to the ring during the match and assaulted the Pyro Twins, allowing Skywatch to retain their titles. On the next episode of Go Time, the Pyro Twins demanded one more rematch since they didn't get a fair shake, and Fox said he would give it to them if they could beat himself and Sledge in the main event. But if they lost, the Pyro Twins would have to disband as a team. Jay and Dusty agreed, but later in the night the Pyro Twins lost after interference from Cynric and use of a chair from Sledge, ending their tenure as a tag team.
