Early career

Anubis began to train in 2004 under Jon Z, along with his future partner the Wild Wolf. He worked various independents during following couple of years, but never debuted in Jon's Renegade Championship Wrestling promotion before it closed.

Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2005-2012)

Early Potential

With RCW's funds gone and the promotion caught up in a legal battle with its creditors, Nykk, one of Anubis's trainers, hastily put together a deal of his own. He started MECCA, which at first stood for the Midwestern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts, in order to save the jobs of the workers and crew of RCW. The Kanines didn't make their debut until the end of the year, debuting on the December 7 episode of Go Time, getting a win over The Concession Dream Team. They amassed some wins in the tag team division and also took part in the tournament for the Toughman Championship. Anubis was disqualified in his first round match with Low Ki, and Wolf also lost in the first round to Jack Fletcher. The Kanines went on to receive a count-out win over former tag champs The Eccentrics at Bloody Valentine, and got a clean victory in the rematch at Melee. They also got a win in a Triangle match at The MECCA Challenge II over the CDT and the Ballard Brothers. This was enough to earn them a title shot at Punked Out, but they lost to champions The Pyro Twins. They also entered the first Six Pack Apocalypse match at Midsummer Night Slam, with Anubis making it to the final three competitors before being eliminated.

They competed in a tag team Gauntlet match at Summertime Showdown, which was won by the UK Wrecking Crew. Anubis won a battle royale at Scared Stiff for a future shot at the MECCA Championship, and the Kanines worked their way back into tag title contention by November. At No Regrets, they defeated Eddie Crowe and Alan Mayse to win the MECCA Tag Team Championship. They successfully defended the titles at New Year's Knockout against The Surgeons and then Anubis cashed in his championship match against Eddie Crowe for Snowed In in January. However, Eddie was able to beat him and retain the MECCA Championship.

Defying Authority

In late 2006, a new power in MECCA emerged as David Caldwell gained co-ownership of MECCA and began to transform it into David Caldwell Sports Entertainment. This didn't sit well with wrestlers like Wolf and Anubis, who fought against his David Caldwell Project faction. The CDT, who had joined up with Caldwell, beat the Kanines for the tag titles on January 17 after interference from Bryan Danielson, who had betrayed co-owner Katie Piehl and the MECCA competitors. They raged as Caldwell and the CDT made a mockery of the titles, and also grew irritated at the treatment Caldwell and Project members were showing to the CDT's manager Medea Knight. On the February 21 episode of Go Time, the Kanines finally had enough and came to her aid, attacking the Project. On March 21, the Kanines regained the tag titles and Knight returned the favor, coming to their aid in a post-match attack. After that, she officially became their manager. With the feud against the Project coming to a head, Katie Piehl fielded a team to go against them in the Ultimate MECCA Challenge match at The MECCA Challenge III. Team captain Nykk chose the Kanines, as well as Low Ki and Kevin Stone to go against Danielson, Huh, Jamie Chan and the CDT, representing Caldwell, with ownership of the company on the line. Both Kanines were eliminated during the match, but Team MECCA ultimately won, with Nykk putting Caldwell out of action for good after the match and nearly crippling him. With that, Nykk sent the Kanines, Stone, Ki, the Pyro Twins and Katie Piehl out to celebrate, having temporary control of the company and having to stay and oversee the rest of the show.

Later in the night, Nykk, Ronin Fox and Lisa Letty formed a new alliance after the main event, beating down champion Eddie Crowe and laying waste to anyone who tried to interfere. They stole all the power in MECCA and called their new faction The House of Lords, revealing that the David Caldwell Project had been a ruse to get Nykk back into power, but one that had gotten out of control. They soon added Cynric, Joey Sprinklers, and Huh to their ranks and started looking to acquire MECCA's championships. At Punked Out, the Kanines defended the tag belts against the Pyro Twins. The House of Lords interfered, costing the Kanines the titles and revealing that the Pyro Twins had joined their ranks. The Kanines had more immediate problems, however, as on July 11 they won a match against the Surgeons, only to be attacked afterward. John Walters would defeat Anubis in a singles match at Liberty or Death when he was betrayed by Knight, who became the manager of the Surgeons. The Kanines were upset and out for revenge, and defeated the Surgeons at Summertime Showdown, only to be attacked after the match again, with both men being put through tables. This led to a Tables match at At Your Own Risk in September, with the Surgeons coming out on top. However, the Kanines were able to get their hands on Knight after the match and put her through a table, getting their revenge.

Epic Reign

With that feud done, the Kanines were free to go after the House of Lords and get their payback. They did that in a big way at Scared Stiff, with Anubis getting a huge victory over former World Champion Ronin Fox, while the Wild Wolf won the Toughman Title from his brother Cynric. Anubis was able to parlay his win into a chance at the World Title in a Four Way Dance at No Regrets, but was unable to win the belt. With their singles success, the Kanines started to drift apart and focus more on their individual careers. They did compete on Go Time's third anniversary show in a dream match against The Briscoes, and also competed against one another at Ignition for the Toughman Title, along with Alan Mayse in a Triangle match.

Anubis would enter the Six-Man Apocalypse match at Bloody Valentine and win, last eliminating Jamie Chan. As a result, he received a World Title shot against champion Nykk at The MECCA Challenge IV. He would go on to win the title from Nykk, breaking the power of the House of Lords. A couple of weeks later, Anubis was blindsided by Kevin Stone, who wanted his World Title. They met at New Dawn, with Anubis retaining and putting Stone out of MECCA. Nykk received a rematch on June 11, but Anubis once again retained the title. But Ronin Fox and the Wild Wolf got involved, leading to a tag team match at Punked Out, where Fox pinned Anubis. This led to Fox getting a title shot at Liberty or Death, but Anubis defeated him. He faced the Eight-Man Throwdown winner, Austin Lee at Summertime Showdown and won the match, though he was showing clear frustration. When Austin offered his hand after the match, Anubis cheapshotted him. He further had problems with his own partner, the Wild Wolf, who subsequently won a Supernova Spectacle to challenge Anubis at At Your Own Risk. Wolf confronted Anubis about his behavior and turned his back, daring Anubis to betray him. Anubis refused, and they teamed the next week. When they lost the match, Anubis blindsided Wolf, growing more and more paranoid about how everyone was out to get his title. Anubis beat Wolf at the event, but Austin Lee wasn't finished with him yet. They met in an Anything Goes match at Scared Stiff, with Anubis defeating him.

On the next Go Time, Anubis was challenged by former champion Bryan Danielson for No Regrets. Anubis was disqualified during the match when he lost control and wouldn't stop pounding on Danielson in the corner. Danielson sought a rematch, and Katie Piehl was quick to grant it for End of the Line. Anubis lost control and assaulted the ref, causing a disqualification. But Katie Piehl came out and restarted the match. This time, Danielson lost control as he fought back and kicked Anubis low, causing a disqualification. Piehl restarted the match again, but Anubis got Danielson on the mat and continuously kneed him in the face, causing the ref to call the match and award it to Anubis. The fight continued afterward until officials pulled them apart. Danielson sought one more match and got an Anything Goes match for Ignition. This time Anubis was able to beat Danielson clean to retain the title and end the rivalry. Anubis defended the title against The Necro Butcher in February, and Necro managed to win by count-out. Anubis won the rematch at Bloody Valentine, but was attacked and put through a table on the next Go Time. They met once again for the title in a Table match the next week, which Anubis won. Former champion Eddie Crowe was the winner of the Six-Man Apocalypse match, which earned him a shot at Anubis at The MECCA Challenge V. Crowe became the first man to pin Anubis in a tag team match since Anubis had won the title almost a year before. Anubis was enraged, and won a hard fought victory against Crowe at the MECCA Challenge.

After winning the rematch at New Dawn, Anubis was approached to get involved in the MECCA vs. ROH war that was raging. Anubis, looking out for himself, was not too interested, but developed a rivalry with former ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima. Anubis accepted a challenge for his title at Liberty or Death, but the match was thrown out when both men broke too many rules. Anubis ran into problems after getting into a brawl backstage with Eight-Man Throwdown winner Jay Crowe. Jay dropped him on his head, giving Anubis neck problems and nearly costing him his title a couple of times. Anubis defeated Jay at Summertime Showdown and then turned his attention back to Morishima, beating him under relaxed rules at At Your Own Risk. As the months went by, Consulate member Jamie Chan started making noise about going after the World Title. This upset Anubis, who had a business arrangement with Prince Nana, where Anubis paid him to use his guys as partners when he needed them, and Nana kept them out of the title picture. Chan persisted, even trying to leave the Consulate, and eventually won a shot against Anubis at End of the Line. Chan seemed to have Anubis's number, but Anubis pulled out a desperation roll up and hooked the tights, the first time in his twenty-month reign he had to do that. Undaunted, Chan won a rematch against Anubis for Ignition. This time, Chan was able to pin Anubis, ending his twenty-one month title reign.

Invincible Team

Anubis sought a rematch, and got one on Go Time: Championship Edition due to having the best win/loss record the previous year. His match with Chan went to a time limit draw, and Anubis once again lost to Chan at Six-Man Melee. During his title reign, Anubis had reconciled with Austin Lee, who he had teamed with several times. Due to an issue with tag champs the Pyro Twins, Anubis and Lee concentrated on taking their titles. The teams met at Kick Start, with Anubis and Lee winning the titles and declaring themselves The Invincible Outlaws. Their first challenge came from Anubis's old rivals The Creation. The Outlaws defeated them at The MECCA Challenge VI, and also turned back a challenge from High Def at New Dawn. But MECCA's first tag champs The UK Wrecking Crew had made their return, and were after the gold. They met the Outlaws at Punked Out and won the titles from them. The Outlaws rebounded by winning a tag team battle royale for a shot at the titles at Never Say Die, and won the titles back on the next Go Time. The UKWC proposed a Stadium Riot at Summertime Showdown, in which both teams were allowed a squad to assist them in a brawl that went all over the building. The Outlaws came out on top, but the UKWC wanted one more match, this time a Ladder match. The Outlaws accepted the challenge for At Your Own Risk, and lost the titles back to the UK Wrecking Crew.

On the next Go Time, Lee was despondent because he had bet all their traveling money on them for the Ladder match and was now broke. Anubis said he'd take care of it and introduced the Anubis Open Challenge, where he would challenge any trained wrestler in the crowd to come to the ring and last five minutes against him, putting up $500. Anubis ran through every challenger for months, and also won the Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff. In December, he put up all the money he had won so far in the Anubis Open Challenge. Gran Akuma accepted the challenge, and Anubis said he would have to last ten minutes since he was already a MECCA competitor. Akuma agreed, but his partner Icarus and Austin Lee got involved at the nine minute mark, causing the match to be thrown out. The Outlaws met FIST at End of the Line as a result, and Icarus and Akuma pulled out the upset. Anubis wasn't done with Akuma, however, and they met at Ignition, with Akuma once again pulling off the upset. When World Champion Jimmy Jacobs declared his intent to no longer to defend the title on the next Go Time, Anubis was one of the former champions to attempt to take him out, putting him back in the fans' good graces. But he continued to team with Lee, and they entered the Trios Tag League tournament with Toughman Champion Ryan Andrews as their partner. They beat Jamie Chan, the Wild Wolf and Marcus Kavian in the first round, but lost to Ronin Fox, Jay Crowe, and Gran Akuma in the semi-finals at Kick Start. After the match, Lee got in Anubis's face, and a fight ensued, with Anubis laying out his partner and ending their team.

The Gatekeeper

Anubis met Lee at The MECCA Challenge VII, with Lee scoring the victory thanks to interference from bounty hunter Jimmy Rave, who Lee had paid off. Anubis won the rematch on the next Go Time, and also the rubber match at New Dawn. He turned his attention to Rave, and beat him to win their rivalry at Never Say Die. Before the match, he had an altercation with Ryan Andrews, and faced him in a tag team match on the next Go Time. Andrews low blowed Anubis during the match, incurring his wrath. Both men considered themselves the number one contender to the World Title, and a match was made, which Andrews won after cheating. Katie Piehl gave them both a title shot in a Triangle match anyway, and they met Jamie Chan on August 17. Chan retained the title, but not before Andrews cost Anubis the pin once again. Anubis turned his ire to Andrews, who he met at Summertime Showdown. Andrews once again won their encounter after hitting Anubis low.

They met again at At Your Own Risk, and Anubis finally scored a win over Andrews, but was attacked after the match. Andrews used a chair on his groin, sending Anubis to the hospital and putting him out of action for a couple of weeks. He came back with the intention of getting his hands on Andrews, but Andrews had volunteered for the annual Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff, and convinced Danny Dreggs to take the last spot so that Anubis couldn't get in on the match. Anubis responded by attacking Andrews and Dreggs when they teamed up on October 26, beating up Dreggs until he agreed to withdraw from the match. Anubis immediately volunteered to take his place. During the Stiff Strike Challenge, Andrews tried to escape through the crowd, and Anubis followed him. Andrews ended up incapacitating Anubis and went on to win the match. One final encounter between the two was signed for No Regrets the next month in a Steel Cage Match. Anubis was finally able to beat Andrews and end their feud.

Anubis was immediately declared the number one contender for the World Title and a match was signed between himself and Eddie Crowe for End of the Line in December. The ref went down during the match, and Eddie brought the title belt into the ring. Anubis took it away from him and hit Eddie, only for everyone to realize that it was a fake title belt made from cardboard. Eddie played dead and Anubis didn't notice in the heat of the moment, allowing Nykk to come in and nail him with the real title belt, leading to Eddie getting the pin. He received a rematch with Crowe the next month at Ignition, but was unable to win the World Title. He then got into it with The Near Future, and faced Aaron Glover at Six-Man Melee. Glover won after interference from his partner Terrence Bolton, and after the match they laid waste to Anubis, injuring his leg. Upon his return a few weeks later, signed up for the 2012 Trios Tag League, along with his partners The Wild Wolf and Low Ki. They defeated Torea, Danny Dreggs and Adam Brooks in the first round, and Upstarts International in the semi-finals. They faced the Near Future in the finals at The MECCA Challenge VIII, but came up short. Upset at the interference of Marcus Kavian, Anubis went to war against the Near Future. He tricked Kavian and Terrence Bolton into accepting a handicap match against him at New Dawn, but Anubis had a partner in mind all along and brought out Alex Shelley, who had just signed with MECCA. Anubis and Shelley got the victory, but soon after, Anubis's contract expired, and he chose to leave MECCA to seek opportunities elsewhere. His final appearance was on the June 27 episode of Go Time, teaming with the Wild Wolf to lose to Aaron Glover and Terrence Bolton.
