Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2008-present)

The Wrestling Fraternity

In early 2008, Robbie Reno formed a partnership with MECCA rookie Ryan Andrews, who was having a crisis about how to juggle his wrestling career with the fact that he was still in college. In order to loosen him up, Reno suggested a good old fashioned frat party. They then took it a step further and decided to form their own wrestling fraternity, rushing new members. Their new group debuted on March 5, interrupting a match and introducing themselves as Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon, complete with sorority sisters and beer kegs. Robbie and Ryan dropped their last names and introduced Dreggs as their new frat brother Cubby, along with Omar and Gary, and eventually their head sorority sister Stephie. They then attacked Tristan Lee before being run off by his brother Austin. All five men competed in the Battlebrawl match at The MECCA Challenge IV, but none of them were able to win. They appeared later in the night, taking over the ring and attempting to get a party started before being run off by The Briscoes.

During the summer, Huh decided that he wanted to be a part of EEE, who regarded him as a joke behind his back. Nonetheless, they took him on as a pledge and made him go through Hell Month, doing demeaning and abusive tasks like having to wash a locker room they had just urinated in with a toothbrush, or being kicked and beaten down while he carried their bags and being forced to compete against Gary and Ryan in a Handicap match at Punked Out. But Huh balked when it came to drinking a cup of raw sewage from one of their kegs. EEE beat him down before he was rescued by The Lee Brothers. Cubby teamed with Gary and Omar to face Huh and the Lees at Liberty or Death, getting the win. Cubby mostly backed up the rest of EEE for the remainder of the year, teaming with all his brothers as the occasion called for it, as well as having some singles matches.

With the number of factions rising in late 2008, EEE was ready to stake their claim at the top. On December 3, they saved The Necro Butcher and Irish Airborne from an attack by The House of Lords and The Consulate, putting them in the fans' good graces. Huh also came back into the mix with his own faction, Huh's Hot Dogs. In response to this, Katie Piehl instituted the Round Robin Faction War, where the factions would face one another in elimination tag matches with a random number of participants. Every survivor meant a point for the faction, and the two top scoring factions at the end would go on to The MECCA Challenge V for one more match, with the winning side's members all getting a guaranteed title shot of their choice. The three lowest scoring factions, however, would be forced to split up. EEE lost their first match in the tournament to Huh's Hot Dogs, but got on the board with a win over the Consulate at Bloody Valentine when Gary and Ryan beat the Consulate in tag team elimination action, scoring two points. EEE scored another two points on March 18 after winning a six-man tag against Luchacore. This put them even with the House of Lords, who had also scored four points, and were the only matchup left in the tournament. The two factions met in an eight-man elimination tag at Melee, where Gary, Robbie, Omar, and Ryan faced Nykk, Ronin Fox, and The Pyro Twins. Gary was the sole survivor, making EEE one of the top scoring factions, along with the Consulate. Robbie, Ryan, Gary, Omar, and Cubby teamed against Alan Mayse, Jamie Chan, Yoshiaki Yago, the Wild Wolf and Prince Nana at the MECCA Challenge V, and the match came down to Robbie and Nana. The Consulate tried to interfere, but were taken out by EEE as well as their group's personal superhero Captain Epsilon. That allowed Robbie to pin Nana and win the Round Robin Faction War. World Champion Anubis would go on to have the fight of his life in the main event against Eddie Crowe, but ultimately retained. The following Go Time, Cubby attempted to take advantage of his soreness and fatigue by being the first EEE member to claim his title shot. However, Anubis defeated him in short order.

As prominent members of the MECCA roster, EEE got pulled into the war against Team ROH in the spring. Takeshi Morishima would deal them a big blow when he defeated Ryan in singles competition, injuring his neck and putting him out of action. As the MECCA vs. ROH feud heated up, a Perimeter of Pain match was announced for Summertime Showdown to settle the score. Team MECCA co-captains Nykk and Ronin Fox recruited Gary and Robbie to be on their side, as well as Eddie Crowe. Cubby was mostly relegated to teaming with Omar in preliminary matches after this as Robbie and Gary spent their time preparing for the match. Team MECCA went against Danielson, Morishima, Roderick Strong, Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards at the show. Robbie was eliminated by Morishima, but Team MECCA went on to win the match, running Team ROH out of the company.

Bitter and Alone

On the following Go Time, Cubby turned against Robbie and Gary, jealous over the fact that their careers were on the rise and feeling they had left him behind. Around the same time, Omar also quit EEE and left the company. Realizing it was time to focus on their singles careers, Robbie and Gary agreed to dissolve EEE and go their separate ways. Cubby began to compete under the name Daniel Cubman and was entered into a Gauntlet match at At Your Own Risk with a title shot at stake. Cubman defeated his former frat brother Robbie in his first match, but then lost to Eddie Crowe in seconds after Robbie hit him with a chair. On the following Go Time, Cubman defeated Gary in singles action. He then scored another victory over Robbie on the October 14 Go Time, pinning him in a tag match. Robbie got him one on one the next week, and finally defeated him. Cubby also formed a brief team with Davey Richards, who had signed a MECCA contract, but got upset after a loss and went too far berating Richards, who then laid him out. Richards defeated him in singles action on the December 9 episode of Go Time.

Cubman continued to try to gain traction in the singles division, but was unsuccessful more times than not. At The MECCA Challenge VI, he competed in a Gauntlet match for the MECCA Toughman Championship, but was defeated by Eddie Crowe in his first match. He suffered an injury in June, but returned to action on the September 15 episode of Rundown. He continued his journeyman career until early 2011, when he had the lights turned out on him backstage and was mysteriously abducted. He then appeared the next week on the January 12 Go Time, helping The Absence of Light, having clearly been brainwashed by them. He was renamed Dreggs by his new leader Jimmy Jacobs. Dreggs would often run interference for Jacobs, while teaming with other members of the faction. He, Torea, Dusty Schneble and even Jacobs himself competed in the Six-Man Melee match at Six-Man Melee in an attempt to deny Jamie Chan, World Champion Jacobs's greates threat, the victory. However, they failed and Chan won a title shot at The MECCA Challenge VII.

Meanwhile, Dreggs, Dusty, and Torea entered the Trios Tag League and defeated Icarus and High Def in the first round. They competed in the semi-finals at Kick Start, defeating the team of Drake Younger and The UK Wrecking Crew. They went to the finals at the MECCA Challenge, beating Ronin Fox, Jay Crowe, and Gran Akuma after Icarus interfered and cost his former partner Akuma the match. This meant that three Absence of Light members had guaranteed title shots, which they would need since Chan defeated Jacobs for the World Title later in the night. But Dreggs chose to use his title shot to challenge High Def for the tag titles instead, with Torea as his partner. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. With the Absence of Light's feud with the MECCA loyalists coming to a head in the summer, a Perimeter of Pain match was booked for Summertime Showdown. Dreggs teamed with Jacobs, Schneble, Torea, and Jimmy Rave to take on Chan, Fox, Akuma, Eddie Crowe and The Wild Wolf. Dreggs was the first man on his team eliminated, and MECCA would go on to win the match, and due to a pre-match stipulation MECCA authority Katie Piehl and Jimmy Jacobs were ousted from MECCA, essentially dissolving the Absence of Light.

Dreggs was abandoned by his former stablemates after Summertime Showdown, and began to focus on his own career a little more. He formed a part-time team with Adam Brooks, and entered the annual Stiff Strike Challenge for Scared Stiff. However, he only did so at the behest of his former frat brother Ryan Andrews, who wanted him to take the last spot so that Anubis wouldn't volunteer and he wouldn't have to face him. But on October 26, Anubis interrupted a tag team match featuring the participants in the Stiff Strike Challenge. He beat up Dreggs until he agreed to withdraw from the match, allowing Anubis to take the last spot.
