Professional wrestling career

Early career

Terrence Courtney followed his dream to wrestle professionally by moving to Dayton, Ohio, in early 2009 to train at the MECCA training camp. Under Nykk and Ronin Fox he learned the ropes of the business and made his in-ring debut in late 2009. He continued to train with MECCA competitors and wrestle for independent promotions for the first six months of his career.

Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2010-present)

Debut

As a graduate of the MECCA training camp, Courtney was often at their shows doing odd jobs like security and ring crew, generally paying his dues. He finally got a chance to appear in the ring as part of the tag team battle royale at Never Say Die in 2010, teaming with fellow graduate Adam Murray, but was amongst the first eliminated. He also appeared in the Hooligan Riot on the 2010 edition of Summertime Showdown, along with fellow graduates Aaron Smith and Justin Caron, backing up The UK Wrecking Crew in their title shot against The Invincible Outlaws. Court would work a handful of dark matches over the next couple of months, while also appearing as a lumberjack in the match between Ronin Fox and Ares at At Your Own Risk. In early 2011, Court and Smith received an offer to work in Japan and were gone for most of the year.

The Near Future

Court and Smith made their return to MECCA on the October 5 edition of Go Time, teaming against Adam Brooks and Danny Dreggs, now going by the names Terrence Bolton and Aaron Glover. They got the win, but lost the next week to Upstarts International. They had more success over the next month, scoring a huge upset over the UK Wrecking Crew on the November 16 episode of Go Time. Both the UKWC and Brooks and Dreggs wanted a chance to get their win back, so Glover and Bolton accepted a challenge for a Triangle match at No Regrets. The match was hijacked by the reformed Pyro Twins, turning it into a Four Corners match, with the Pyro Twins coming out victorious.

In early December, Bolton and Glover were set to be a part of the Take It to the Top Tournament. They were to face one another in the first round on December 7, but at the top of the show they joined Marcus Kavian and Brandon Blade, half the participants in the tournament, in a beatdown of Gran Akuma and Kotoka Shiiba. Kavian said that he wasn't going to jump through any more hoops to make it to the top, and specifically chose Bolton, Glover, and Blade because they had no history in MECCA and were willing to be molded. They dubbed their group the Near Future and ended up hijacking most of the show, culminating in an eight-man tag team victory against MECCA mainstays Austin Lee, The Wild Wolf and High Def in the main event. They would cement their place on the roster when Kavian beat Shiiba and Glover, Blade, and Bolton defeated Lee, Akuma, and Drake Younger in a six-man tag ten days later at End of the Line.
