Professional wrestling career
Early career
Wolf began to train in 2004 under Jon Z, along with his future partner Anubis. He worked various independents during following couple of years, but never debuted in Jon's Renegade Championship Wrestling promotion before it closed.
Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2005-2015)
Early Potential
With RCW's funds gone and the promotion caught up in a legal battle with its creditors, Nykk, one of Wolf's trainers, hastily put together a deal of his own. He started MECCA, which at first stood for the Midwestern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts, in order to save the jobs of the workers and crew of RCW. The Kanines didn't make their debut until the end of the year, debuting on the December 7 episode of Go Time, getting a win over The Concession Dream Team. They amassed some wins in the tag team division and also took part in the tournament for the Toughman Championship. Anubis was disqualified in his first round match with Low Ki, and Wolf also lost in the first round to Jack Fletcher. The Kanines went on to receive a count-out win over former tag champs The Eccentrics at Bloody Valentine, and got a clean victory in the rematch at Melee. They also got a win in a Triangle match at The MECCA Challenge II over the CDT and the Ballard Brothers. This was enough to earn them a title shot at Punked Out, but they lost to champions The Pyro Twins. They also entered the first Six Pack Apocalypse match at Midsummer Night Slam, with Anubis making it to the final three competitors before being eliminated.
They competed in a tag team Gauntlet match at Summertime Showdown, which was won by the UK Wrecking Crew. Anubis won a battle royale at Scared Stiff for a future shot at the MECCA Championship, and the Kanines worked their way back into tag title contention by November. At No Regrets, they defeated Eddie Crowe and Alan Mayse to win the MECCA Tag Team Championship. They successfully defended the titles at New Year's Knockout against The Surgeons and then Anubis cashed in his championship match against Eddie Crowe for Snowed In in January. However, Eddie was able to beat him and retain the MECCA Championship.
Defying Authority
In late 2006, a new power in MECCA emerged as David Caldwell gained co-ownership of MECCA and began to transform it into David Caldwell Sports Entertainment. This didn't sit well with wrestlers like Wolf and Anubis, who fought against his David Caldwell Project faction. The CDT, who had joined up with Caldwell, beat the Kanines for the tag titles on January 17 after interference from Bryan Danielson, who had betrayed co-owner Katie Piehl and the MECCA competitors. They raged as Caldwell and the CDT made a mockery of the titles, and also grew irritated at the treatment Caldwell and Project members were showing to the CDT's manager Medea Knight. On the February 21 episode of Go Time, the Kanines finally had enough and came to her aid, attacking the Project. On March 21, the Kanines regained the tag titles and Knight returned the favor, coming to their aid in a post-match attack. After that, she officially became their manager. With the feud against the Project coming to a head, Katie Piehl fielded a team to go against them in the Ultimate MECCA Challenge match at The MECCA Challenge III. Team captain Nykk chose the Kanines, as well as Low Ki and Kevin Stone to go against Danielson, Huh, Jamie Chan and the CDT, representing Caldwell, with ownership of the company on the line. Both Kanines were eliminated during the match, but Team MECCA ultimately won, with Nykk putting Caldwell out of action for good after the match and nearly crippling him. With that, Nykk sent the Kanines, Stone, Ki, the Pyro Twins and Katie Piehl out to celebrate, having temporary control of the company and having to stay and oversee the rest of the show.
Later in the night, Nykk, Ronin Fox and Lisa Letty formed a new alliance after the main event, beating down champion Eddie Crowe and laying waste to anyone who tried to interfere. They stole all the power in MECCA and called their new faction The House of Lords, revealing that the David Caldwell Project had been a ruse to get Nykk back into power, but one that had gotten out of control. They soon added Cynric, Joey Sprinklers, and Huh to their ranks and started looking to acquire MECCA's championships. At Punked Out, the Kanines defended the tag belts against the Pyro Twins. The House of Lords interfered, costing the Kanines the titles and revealing that the Pyro Twins had joined their ranks. The Kanines had more immediate problems, however, as on July 11 they won a match against the Surgeons, only to be attacked afterward. John Walters would defeat Anubis in a singles match at Liberty or Death when he was betrayed by Knight, who became the manager of the Surgeons. The Kanines were upset and out for revenge, and defeated the Surgeons at Summertime Showdown, only to be attacked after the match again, with both men being put through tables. This led to a Tables match at At Your Own Risk in September, with the Surgeons coming out on top. However, the Kanines were able to get their hands on Knight after the match and put her through a table, getting their revenge.
Singles Success and Breakup
With that feud done, the Kanines were free to go after the House of Lords and get their payback. They did that in a big way at Scared Stiff, with Anubis getting a huge victory over former World Champion Ronin Fox, while the Wild Wolf won the Toughman Title from his brother Cynric. Anubis was able to parlay his win into a chance at the World Title in a Four Way Dance at No Regrets, but was unable to win the belt. With their singles success, the Kanines started to drift apart and focus more on their individual careers. They did compete on Go Time's third anniversary show in a dream match against The Briscoes, and also competed against one another at Ignition for the Toughman Title, along with Alan Mayse in a Triangle match.
Anubis would go on to win the World Title from Nykk at The MECCA Challenge IV, but Wolf lost the Toughman Title to Eddie Crowe on Go Time: Championship Edition in February. Anubis and Wolf teamed to lose to Nykk and Fox at Punked Out and would lose to Nykk in a singles match at Liberty or Death. As the months went by, Anubis grew more and more paranoid. This led to him turning on his friends, and it didn't help matters when Wolf won a Supernova Spectacle for a title shot at At Your Own Risk. Wolf confronted his partner about his behavior, but got the cold shoulder. Wolf said if he was going to turn on him to just do it now, but Anubis said he wouldn't and wished him luck. However, after they lost a tag team match the next week Anubis blindsided Wolf with the belt. Wolf was unsuccessful in unseating Anubis at At Your Own Risk, but continued to battle Wolf alongside his new allies The Lee Brothers, who had their own issues with Anubis. Wolf and Tristan Lee would team up and go for the tag belts at Scared Stiff, but were unable to beat Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon.
The Consulate
After several other losses, Wolf grew frustrated with his career and how it had stalled out. But on December 24, Wolf was approached by Prince Nana, who made an offer for Wolf to join his group The Consulate. Wolf said he would think about it before leaving the ring. The next week, Wolf came out with Nana and got a victory over Omar. Wolf teamed with Consulate members Yoshiaki Yago and Jamie Chan the next week in their first match of the Round Robin Faction War, losing to the House of Lords. But they rebounded at Ignition when they added Alan Mayse to their team for an eight-man elimination tag against Huh's Hot Dogs. The Consulate swept the match, scoring four points for their team since all four men survived.
Later in the year, Wolf would join up with Prince Nana's Consulate group, which often lent out its members as partners for Anubis, who had no allies left. Occassionally Wolf and Anubis would reunite as a team, including in December 2009 in the first ever Championship Countdown match on Go Time against Nykk and Fox. However, no titles changed hands as the match went to its time limit. He also competed in their tournament match at Bloody Valentine, teaming with Mayse to lose to the EEE contingent of Ryan and Gary. As one of the two top scoring teams, the Consulate not only avoided having to split up, but faced the other top scoring faction, EEE, in one last elimination tag at The MECCA Challenge V, with the winning faction getting guaranteed title shots. However, Wolf, Mayse, Yago, Chan, and Nana lost to Robbie, Ryan, Gary, Omar, and Cubby after it came down to Robbie and Nana and Robbie walked away with the win for his team.
Wolf continued to back up Nana and other members of the Consulate, and aided Nana against former Consulate member The Necro Butcher. Wolf and Necro got into several brawls, leading to a match at Punked Out. Wolf won after Nana put brass knuckles on his fist and hid them with tape, allowing Wolf to knock out Necro and get the pin. He then teamed with Mayse and Chan against Necro and the Briscoes at Liberty or Death, but were on the losing end. Wolf finally met Necro to settle the score in a Taped Fist match at Summertime Showdown, when Necro used his own brass knuckles against him. Wolf would rebound on October 7 by once again becoming Toughman Champion after a win over Ronin Fox. He would participate in the Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff, along with fellow stablemate Jamie Chan. Nana tried to organize it so that Chan and Wolf finished in a tie with the most strikes, but Chan betrayed Wolf at the last minute to get the win. On November 11, Wolf lost the Toughman Title to Tristan Lee, but would win it back on December 9. The next week, Wolf teamed with his old partner and the World Champion, Anubis, against The Creation, the tag champs, in the first Championship Countdown match. However, no titles changed hands when the match went to its time limit. Wolf would lose the Toughman Title back to Tristan Lee once again on December 23, and wanted one more match to end the feud. They met in a Ladder match at Ignition, with Wolf winning back the Toughman Title once again.
Wolf used several shortcuts to continue to retain the Toughman Title, including against Davey Richards after knocking him out with the belt behindi the ref's back. Richards wasn't going to let that stand, and made it his mission to win the Toughman Title. A Toughman Gauntlet was held at The MECCA Challenge VI, where Wolf would enter last and defend his title. Richards made it to Consulate member Are$, who was right before Wolf, and got knocked out with Are$'s briefcase for the DQ, in an attempt to give Wolf the easy win. However, Richards would persevere and take Wolf down to claim the Toughman Title. The same night, now-World Champion and ex-Consulate member Jamie Chan would put the final nail in the Consulate's coffin by defeating Alan Mayse in the main event and taking out Prince Nana, putting him out of MECCA.
Mentorship and Betrayal
Wolf was directionless after losing his Toughman Title, his manager, and his faction. A few weeks later, he was approached by one of his original trainers, Nykk, who attempted to whip Wolf back into shape. They had a match at New Dawn, and even though Wolf lost, he showed the fire he had been lacking recently. He began to team with Nykk regularly, going back under his wing once again. They ended up on the same team for Eight-Man Throwdown at Punked Out, teaming with Davey Richards and Gran Akuma to beat Ronin Fox, Ares, Jack Evans and Torea. However, Wolf was eliminated when the four winners faced off in the four-way finals later in the night. Nykk and Wolf attempted to go for the tag belts, but were unsuccessful after a couple of attempts. But Nykk had bigger fish to fry, as he had won Eight-Man Throwdown and now had a World Title shot at Summertime Showdown. He became the World Champion once again, and it inspired Wolf to work harder to try to get a shot and possibly take the title from his mentor. Nykk said not to get ahead of himself, but Wolf won a Wild Card Battle Royale for a title shot on September 29. They met the next week, and Nykk badly injured his knee during the match. He would go on to pull out a desperation victory over Wolf, and all seemed well. But a new threat had emerged: The Absence of Light, led by Jimmy Jacobs, who was after the World Title. Nykk continued to fight instead of taking time off to tend to his injury and lost the title to Jacobs in November. Nykk, Wolf, and Jay Crowe challenged the Absence of Light to a Six-Man War at End of the Line, which was accepted. They defeated Jacobs, Torea, and Dusty Schneble at the event, but afterward Nykk suddenly attacked Wolf. He went after Wolf's knee, severely damaging it and causing him to be stretchered out of the arena.
Nykk would explain in the following weeks that Wolf had gotten too big for his britches and should have kept in Nykk's shadow, but causing the injury that eventually cost him the World Title was the last straw. He told Wolf to stay away from MECCA or risk worse than he got at End of the Line. However, Wolf made his return after his recovery and immediately went after Nykk. They met at Six-Man Melee, with Nykk getting a cheap pin. Wolf attacked Nykk after the match backstage, and they were responsible for one another's eliminations in the Six-Man Melee match later on. They met once again in an Anything Goes match at Kick Start, and the match was stopped after Nykk dropped Wolf on his head with an Aurora Driver, a move that had nearly crippled many others and was banned. Miraculously, Wolf made it up after the match and went after Nykk, putting them both through tables at ringside and causing them both to receive medical attention. Wanting it all to end, Nykk offered to face Wild Wolf once more in the MECCA Challenge match at The MECCA Challenge VII, and was willing to put his career on the line if Wolf would do the same. Wolf agreed and at the MECCA Challenge, finally defeated Nykk and put him out of in-ring competition.
Due to the win, Wolf was able to earn a World Title shot in a Four Corners match at New Dawn against Jimmy Jacobs, Jimmy Rave, and World Champion Jamie Chan, but was unsuccessful. With the feud between MECCA and the Absence of Light coming to a head, a Perimeter of Pain match was booked for Summertime Showdown, and Chan picked Wolf to be on his team. If they won, Jacobs and his benefactor Katie Piehl would have to leave MECCA. If they lost, the World Title would be returned to Jacobs. Wolf teamed with Chan, Eddie Crowe, Ronin Fox and Gran Akuma to beat Jacobs, Torea, Schneble, Dreggs and Rave in the match, ending the Absence of Light's threat. In the fall, he formed a brief team with his old Consulate ally Jamie Chan, but they could not get the wins they needed and blamed one another, leading to a match at Scared Stiff, but Wolf came out on the losing end. They buried the hatchet afterward, and Wolf moved on, getting into a rivalry with Austin Lee after suffering a controversial loss. Wolf was able to get his win in a rematch at No Regrets.
Their rubber match was set to be a part of the first round of the Take It to the Top Tournament on December 7, but both men were attacked before the bell by the new upstart faction The Near Future, led by Marcus Kavian. Wolf had his head dropped onto a chair, and the match never happened. Later in the night, he and Austin confronted the Near Future as they were about to do the same thing to High Def. An eight-man tag ensued, but Wolf's injuries were too much and Kavian ultimately made him tap out for the win. The next week, Wolf faced Kavian one on one, but got himself disqualified when he attacked Kavian with a chair. The Near Future were able to turn the tables with the numbers game and once again injured Wolf, putting him out of action. Wolf would feud with Marcus Kavian when he returned to action in early 2012, ultimately losing a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match to him at Kick Start. He also competed in the Battlebrawl Match at The MECCA Challenge VIII, but was unsuccessful. As the year went on, the Wild Wolf re-entered the tag team division, first forming a team with Low Ki, and then Amazing Red. He and Red had some success, and were able to get some tag title shots in mid-2013, but were not able to win the belts.
Attitude Change
Wolf and Red went on to feud with The Brothers Lee after they were cheapshotted after a match against them at Never Say Die. Wolf and Red lost the feud, and Wolf started to become disenchanted with his career decisions. On the first Go Time of 2014, Wolf turned against Red, laying him out after his match. At the same time, the MECCA Legacy Championship was vacated, and would be put up for grabs in a Four Way Dance. Wolf won a petition match to qualify for the contest, teaming with Jack Evans to defeat The Young Bucks. Wolf faced Evans, Red, and Kory Chavis for the vacant title at Ignition, but it was Evans who would go on to win the title. Wolf then went on to Six-Man Melee to defeat Red, and did so again in their subsequent rematch on Go Time. Wolf's alliance with Evans would continue throughout the year, but came to an end when they were unable to win the Tag Team Championship from the Pyro Twins at At Your Own Risk. In early 2014, Wolf developed an issue with Drake Younger. After one of their matches ended in chaos, the rematch was scheduled for Kick Start. Wolf got a cheap win, but Younger attacked after the match. In the ensuing brawl, Wolf threw Younger off of a balcony backstage, nearly breaking his neck. Younger wanted his revenge, and challenged Wolf to a Stretcher Match at The MECCA Challenge X. Wolf eventually accepted, but Younger won the match and got his payback.
Wolf formed a new alliance with Alex Shelley due to their disdain for Shelley's former tag team partner Brian Kendrick. He and Shelley teamed with Marcus Kavian, Terrence Bolton, and Fenris against Aaron Glover, Trent Baretta, Ryan Andrews, Brian Kendrick and Brandon Blade in the annual Perimeter of Pain Match at End of the Line. His team ultimately lost the match, and Wolf himself was eliminated by Blade. His alliance with Shelley began to break down, and the two met along with Kendrick in a Triangle Match at Ignition, with Kendrick pinning Wolf. He then threw his focus into collecting the bounty Marcus Kavian had put on Torea's career, trying several times to take him out and collect it. He and fellow bounty hunters Gary Kopp and Fenris met Torea in a Four Corners Match at Kick Start, but Torea overcame the odds to win the match. Wolf gave his career a shot in the arm by winning the Battlebrawl at The MECCA Challenge XI. This earned him a title match against the new World Champion, Torea, on Go Time, but Wolf went down in defeat. In the summer, the Tag Team Championship was vacated and put up for grabs in an eight-team single elimination tournament. Wanting to win some gold, Wolf came to an agreement with Gary Kopp to team for the tournament. However, they went down in the first round to the Pyro Twins. On the next episode of Go Time, Wolf turned on Kopp, beating him up backstage. Kopp would retaliate the next week, and they met at Summertime Showdown. Kopp came out the winner, but Wolf attacked him after the match. They met again a couple of weeks later, with the winner being allowed to pick the stipulation for a third match at At Your Own Risk. Kopp won again, but was once again blindsided by Wolf after the match. Kopp chose the Pit Fighter's Paradise for their third match, and Wolf was finally able to get the win, showing respect and embracing Kopp after the match.
Golden Departure
On the October 6 episode of Go Time, Wolf confronted the new World Champion, Terrence Bolton. Wolf confirmed that his contract would expire at the end of the month, but before he left, he wanted to do the one thing he could never accomplish and win the World Title. His request for a title match was granted for later that night, and after interference from The Motor City Machine Guns, Torea arrived to turn the tables, and helped Wolf defeat Bolton. Wolf stated the next week that he would give Bolton a rematch for the belt in his last match in MECCA at Scared Stiff, and if he retained, he would voluntarily vacate the title before leaving the company. This didn't turn out to be necessary, however, as Bolton defeated Wolf to win the belt back on the pay-per-view, and Wolf's MECCA career came to an end.
