PFC. HARRY E. SHINE

Pfc. Harry E. Shine, 27, was accidentally killed June 18 on Luzon, the war department has notified his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Shine of this village.

In a letter received July 12 from the soldier's chaplain, Mr. and Mrs. Shine learned that their son was killed when a Japanese gun which he and a companion were examining discharged accidentally.

He had been overseas 38 months serving with the 25th Infantry Division. He entered service in Montana, where he was employed, and received training in California and Hawaii. He also had served in the Solomon Islands.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are seven brothers, Cpl. Waldo with the 5th Army in Italy; S-Sgt. Donald, with the 10th Army on Okinawa; Robert, Paul, Kenneth, Leroy and Lloyd all of the home; two sisters, Pauline and Helen, both of the home and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Streit of Sugar Creek.
