S-SGT. MELVIN SICKAFOOSE

Staff Sgt. Melvin A. Sickafoose, listed as missing in action in Italy since Sept. 17, was killed on that date, the war department has notified his wife, Arlene, of Canton. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Sickafoose of the Waynesburg rd.

Inducted in May, 1942, he recieved training at Camp Shelby, Miss., and Ft. Dix, N. J. before going overseas last January with an infantry unit.

He graduated from Waynesburg High School and Ohio State University. He was employed at the Timken Roller Bearing Co. in Canton prior to his induction.

Surviving in addition to his widow and his parents are five brothers, Charles W., Elmer, George, Harmon, and Andrew and four sisters, Mrs. Gus Reifsnyder of Stonecreek, Ann of Canton, Elviria of North Canton and Cora of the home. He has two half-brothers, William of Magnolia and Benjamin of Waco and a half-sister, Mrs. O. V. Kinkigh of the home.
