Yeah. Originality Sucks Sometimes.

I recently just went to the movie The Beach. Leo is hot. Hotter than Justin. That movie had some good quotes...one of which I will use in a minute. So keep your pants on, unlike FATone.

Anyways, to my point...if I even have one, is that I went to Giddy for N Sync today. Apparently Wendi and Heather have decided to shut down the page for good. That's their personal decision, but when reading their stuff I noticed a couple things that they mention as reasons for them closing their page.

I just have to say that I agree sort of with them saying that it's all been done. It's too difficult to be original now. Which is true.

"I just feel like everybody always tries to do something different. But you always wind up doing the same damn thing."~Richard, The Beach

That statement is so true. Honestly, if you think about it... you can only be SO original. I know that as a humor page webmaster, I try to think of new and different things to write about. It's tired. It's old. Another page is doing it. I find myself thinking those things when I try to come up with ideas. Even taking a basic idea and twisting it seems unoriginal and uncreative.

But now I really don't care. I say screw it. As long as I give a site credit for a general inspirational idea, I am gonna use it. I'm not going to take something word for word, or basically copy it from a site. That's not cool. What I AM saying is that I'm not going to be afraid of borrowing ideas from people, and changing them to make my own NEW stuff. You can't be original ALL the time, and honestly, I really feel the way Giddy's webmasters do. It's all been done. So whatever THAT point was, it's made now.

Moving on.

I also had to make a comment about Giddy's statement about how they are moving on from the making fun of people that they admire so much. One thing that caught my attention was the statement about how making fun of others is something that an insecure person does. I disagree. Strongly. I don't feel that I am an insecure person. Yes, I do enjoy making fun of the boys of N Sync, but it's all in good fun. I wouldn't do it to their face, and when I have had contact with them I didn't act rudely towards them at all.

I make fun of them because it's easy. It gives me something to do when I am utterly bored. I get a good laugh out of it. And no harm is done to anyone's ego. They don't know that I make fun of them when I sit around with my friends. They don't care that I have a webpage dedicated to their flaws. The majority of this page is just a creative outlet for me, a release from the stress of daily life, and it's a place where I can make OTHERS laugh. I don't get enjoyment out of hurting people's feelings. But, I do get happiness out of making other people laugh. I don't think that the humor pages do any harm, and certainly do not harbor insecurity within the lives/minds of the webmasters.

Aight, so yeah. That's my preaching for the day. I just wanted to say that although I may take breaks in writing for the page, it's something that I love to do, so I won't be closing any time soon. I was sorry to hear of Wendi and Heather's decision but I wish them well with whatever they decide to do in the future.
