Field Howitzer
This Mauser 98, my first custom rifle, carries the name "Field Howitzer". It has a Douglas Premium 28" medium heavy sporter barrel, chambered in 25-06. This sits in a Harry Lawson Cochise thumbhole stock in grade 5 fancy American Walnut, with rosewood tip and cap. It is topped off with a Leupold Vari-X III 8.5 X 25 scope. A few of the military parts were replaced with aftermarket components. The bolt shroud and safety was replaced by a streamlined shroud similar to those on the Interarms Mark X's. The trigger was replaced by a Timney featherweight deluxe. The military floorplate was swapped out for a Mark X trapdoor floorplate.
If I can see it in the scope, Field Howitzer can hit it!
Groundhogs hide when it is uncased. Like they say, it's....
