The team of Booker and Billy Kidman has the potential to be one of the most successful in WCW history. Booker has been a tag team champion on 10 different occasions and a television champion seven times. There simply isn't a better partner Billy Kidman could have.
Although Kidman had a short run as a tag team champion with The Filthy Animals, he's better known for his success in singles action. The two-time cruiserweight champion is one of, if not the, most exciting wrestler(s) in WCW today. Imagine the possibilities! Booker floors an opponent with his axe kick and Billy Kidman finishes the match with the Shooting Star Press. It would be tag team nirvana. But before I allow my imagination to run over with visions of glory for this duo, I see one thing that stands in their way - Torrie Wilson.
Yes, that Torrie. The same blonde vixen that parades around on television each week, obviously riding the coattails of Billy Kidman's popularity. When Booker comes to the ring for a match, he's focused on the task at hand. When Billy Kidman comes to the ring for a match, he's more concerned with Torrie than anything else - including winning. When Torrie recently sprained an ankle, I thought Billy Kiman was going to break down and cry. Screw that! If Torrie can't handle herself near the ring, make her stay in the back and help catering clean up.
Maybe Billy Kidman doesn't realize Booker is more important to his career than Torrie is at this point. Booker can lead this tandem to a title, but only if Billy Kidman allows Booker to run the team his way. This isn't Allentown, Penn., Billy Kidman. Booker is from the mean streets and can show you how to survive situations you've only read about in Time magazine. Simply put, Billy Kidman has to dump the deadweight. Torrie is beautiful, no one can debate that. But what purpose does she serve to Billy Kidman's career? He's past the point of needing her to get a pop from the crowd.
My advice to Billy Kidman is to talk with Booker and assure him that he's totally dedicated to this team and that he's willing to do anything Booker tells him to do, including dumping Torrie. Torrie will surely understand that winning gold is what this business is all about. She wouldn't possibly prevent Billy Kidman from being a success, would she?
