Indian Women Aren't Supposed to Cry

A troubled women sits underneath a tall pine

watching the water from her tears slowy dropping

into the velvet grass.

Two not of her race walked by.Why !

She looks Indian

I have heard Indian women aren't suppose to cry

they are so strong

The troubled women turns her glistening eyes

to them and speaks a melodic accent cushioning

When I was a young girl once in every while

I would go for a walk into these woods

On each walk I made a secret wish and left it here

When I become a young woman I walked again

into these woods. The secret wish followed me

home and set outside my window

smiling at me until I opened the door

Today this wish disappeared

I have returned to the place of its birth but

it is not to be found.

The color of the one's skin cannot determine

How fraigle is a heart
