BACK HOME AGAIN AT THE SPEEDWAY

Over the holidays, I had the chance to do a little sightseeing at the Speedway. While I was there, I took pictures of what is happening with the Formula 1 track and how it is affecting the Speedway. Some of the photos were taken from the tour bus...others, taken from inside the construction site, well, lets just consider those "spy" photos. Thanks goes out to Dave for giving me information on how to get into the Speedway, to take the inside shots. The first two are official aerial shots, sold at the IMS Photo Shop, so I won't try to take credit for those!

The Speedway, as it looked in 1995 , the last time I was there

And how the Speedway is looking now, with the F1 track in place.

Sign inside the construction area, announcing the F1 race

Turn One, from the main straight onto the infield portion.
The cars will be traveling in the reverse direction of the 400 and 500. The F1 cars will be entering the infield from what is actually the tradional exit of Turn 4, in the upper right portion of the photo. Go figure...

Exiting the infield course, on the main track, between traditional Turn 1 and 2.

The front of the new F1 garages, along the front straight.
They have removed the seating that was here to accomodate the garages. No more sitting here on Pole Day as the cars go off for qualifying...
