Rambo strides into the endzone twice during OSU's win over the Ohio Bobcats.

Looking ahead to next week?

The Buckeyes had to be stunned as they sat in the locker room at half time during Saturday's game against Ohio University. The Buckeyes, a forty-three point favorite, were tied with the pesky Bobcats 10-10.

But the Buckeyes came out in the second half and exploded on offense. They scored twenty-four points in teh third quarter alone. The defense shut down the Bobcats wishbone offense, holding them to only a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Why did the Buckeyes play so sliggishly in the first half? Were they looking ahead to next weeks game? Probably not. They play Cincinnati at the 'Shoe. However, the Bearcats did upset Wisconson on Saturday. The Buckeyes most likely were not as fired up for this game as they would for a big game. They could afford to play half-heartedly, because chances are they still would win. Hopefully, they'll be able to get themselves pumped up for the tougher games coming up on the schedule.

Offense continues to emerge against Bobcats

The Steve Bellisari lead offense continues to emerge as each game progresses. The Buckeyes gained a total of 454 yards; 269 through the air and 185 on the ground.

Bellisari completed 12 of 21 passes for 243 yards and two touchdown scores. 68 of those yards came on a touchdown pass to Rambo in the third quarter. It was one of three Buckeye touchdowns scored in the third quarter.

Rambo continues to improve with each game. In the first game against Miami, he had only one catch. He broke open against UCLA with a big game and further exploded with 7 catches for 181 yards and two scores.

Micheal Wiley had only 98 yards rushing, but added two scores.

Defense not fooled by Bobcat's wishbone offense

The Buckeye defense was not fooled by the wishbone offense of the Bobcats. This is the offense that has the quarterback fake handing off the ball to about three guys and then running it himself. It's supposed to confuse the defense, but it only ends up confusing the cameraman.

The defense held Ohio to only 78 yards passing and 156 rushing for a grand total of 234 yards. After giving up ten points in the first half, the defense clamped down and stopped the Ohio offense. They allowed only a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Gary Berry lead all players with 10 tackles. Nate Clements had 7, while Na'il Diggs, Rodney Bailey, and Joe Cooper each added six.
