#2 Penn State too much for young Buckeyes
The Buckeyes might have been fired up after a week of being ripped on by coach John Cooper. While both coaches held their teams from talking to the media, coach Cooper gave his team a little words to fire them up. However, there was not enough motivation in his words, as the Buckeyes were spanked and down right humiliated. It was the first road game for the Buckeyes after five start at home. And for a young team, playing in the hostile environment of Happy Valley was just too overwhelming. The Buckeyes offense could not get ANYTHING going against the Penn State defense that features Lavar Arrington. Him, and the rest of the Nittany Lion defense held the Buckeyes with no offensive touchdowns. The Buckeyes now drop to 4-3 and 1-2 in the Big Ten. |
These year's Buckeyes experience growing pains
The Buckeyes gained only 143 total yards of offense against the Penn State defense. I can't remember the last time the Bucks have been held for so few yards. Of course, perhaps it's time to realize that the Buckeyes are not going to be a part of the Big Ten championship, let alone the National Championship. With a 4-3 record, the Bucks will be hard pressed to even make a bowl game. This is really hard for me, a huge Buckeye fan, to put my team down like this. But it's time to face the facts. This is a rebuilding year. Losing most of it's star players has taken its toll on the Buckeyes. But the talent is there, it will just take some time to develop. But perhaps the talent could have at least gained a few more yards... |
Defense plays well, needs offense to step it up
The defense stepped it up and kept the Buckeyes into the game. However the offense did not do it's job and put points on the board. The Buckeyes did not resemble the "Silver Bullets" of last season that shut down the Nittany Lions, but they did manage to stop them and keep it from becoming a blow out. Return to Buckeye Central |
