Buckeyes Tune up for Michigan State by Storming Hawkeyes 41-11

41

Last game: Ohio State 20, Minnesota 17

Next game: Nov. 6th- Ohio State at Michigan State

The Buckeyes retired two-time Hesiman trophy winner Archie Griffin's number at halftime of the Homecoming game. Oh yeah, the Bucks won too, 41-11.

Tune up for trip to Lansing

On the same day that the Buckeyes celebrated Homecoming, and also retired the number of the greatest running back to ever wear a Buckeye uniform, the Buckeyes also had by far one of their best games of the season.

Now granted it was against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the worst team in the Big Ten. But nevertheless it was still a good game for the Buckeyes and an equally good tune up for next weeks trip up to East Lansing.

This is the same Spartan team that ruined our perfect season and National Championship hopes last year when they shocked the Buckeyes, 28-24 at the 'Shoe.

A few weeks ago, the Spartans were on a high after beating rival Michigan, but then got crushed by Purdue and run over by Ron Dayne. It would have been good if they had won and were still on that high so it could be the Buckeyes that ruined their season this year. But of well, revenge is revenge no matter what is at stake.

Offense clicks on all cylinders

After last years loss to the Spartans, that loss seemed to be the only thing that college football experts and analysts seemed to talk about. It made me sick to hear about how every game was compared to OSU's collapse against the Spartans.

  • So even though the Buckeye's coaches are claiming that there is no revenge motives going into the game, they are lying.

  • Okay, enough with the Spartans...lets get back to the Hawkeyes.

  • What an offensive show. 317 passing yards, 217 rushing yards for a total of 534.

  • However did I mention that this was Iowa.
  • Michael Wiley had 86 yards on 15 carries, however yet again the Buckeyes failed to give the him the ball more than twenty times.

  • Wells ran for 51 yards and had two scores of 1 and 3 yards.

  • Bellisari was 12-21 for 240 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran for an 18 yard score.

  • Moherman entered the game and was 4-4 for 77 yards. He threw a 41 yard touchdown to Provitt.

  • Ken-Yon Rambo also exploded catching 7 passes for 179 yards. He had many clutch catches on third down and also caught a 40 yard touchdown.

  • Offense clicks on all cylinders

The Buckeyes defense, after surrenderring an early touchdown and two point conversation that completely stunned the crowd at the 'Shoe, then clamped down on the Hawkeyes. They had 283 passing yards, and only 53 yards on the ground.

  • How good is James Cotton going to be as he matures and gets more experience?

  • He intercepted a pass that ended an Iowa drive.
  • He caused another interception by hurrying the Iowa Qb.
  • He stuffed the Iowa running back on a 4th and 1 which stalled another Iowa drive.
  • He also had6 tackles.
  • The kicker...he did this while being very sick.

  • Defensive lineman Peterson intercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards to set up the Rambo TD.

  • Diggs lead all tacklers with 11 tackles, Plummer had 8, Clements added 7.
