Fighting Force 2

The real fight here is getting you to return to the game.

Having never played the original, I may not be qualified to give a complete review of this game, but this game is nothing like the original, so here goes. I picked this game up because it looked like they were going in a Metal Gear Solid direction, staying with only one character, and sending him on secret missions. The basic premise sounds intriguing, doesn't it??

In the game, you take the role of Hawk, the stereotypical white bad ass from the first game. You are part of a elite team of agents who have been "modified" to be the best. The organization you work for seems a little like the IMF, of Mission: Impossible fame.

First off, the game looks great! But that can be said for all Dreamcast games at this point. The sound is OK, but almost non-existent. The is no background music at all, and while it may add to the realism, it just seems wrong when you have a 64 bit Yamaha sound chip at your deposal.

Unfortunately, looks do not a good game make. And this has never been more apparent. The control is horrible. The character moves like he is running through roof tar. And forget trying to avoid fights through stealth, every enemy runs in your direction as soon as you enter the room. However, this shouldn't worry you as it only take tapping the kick button three times fast to vanquish EVERY bad guy you come across. The "TEKKEN FORCE" mode from Tekken 3 is more exciting than this. And there is more strategy than tap, tap, tap!! Here is a brief description of the game play: BEAT UP ENEMY-GET KEY-GO THROUGH DOOR-Repeat. There you have it. That is it! Once again , the premise of what could have been has been destroyed by poor game design. This is the kind of game that makes you wonder if they test these games with human beings, or chimps.
