This email was written in hopes that somebody that knows Nick or Nick himself might see it and know that fans out there do love and support him and the rest of BSB always.
I realize this is supposed to be the point where I ask a question about one of the Boys, or of the band, but I don't have a question for you. Actually, I have something to say, and I hope that you will take the time to read this for me.
I went to the show on October 4th - the Columbus, Ohio - on Monday. All I have to say was that it was amazing. The Boys sounded awsome, their dancing was magnificent, and most importantly, the band kicked ass. If it wasn't for the band, we'd have nothing to groove to! Not only did ALL of you sound great, but everyone looked good. Whether it be the band, the dancers, or the guys themselves. Even Nick.
After the show was over, I noticed something that really upset me. These "fans" were saying stuff about Nick. More specifically, about Nick's weight. I realize that they have their own opinion, and I respect that, but I feel that it has gone too far when our radio station, WNCI, who has played Backstreet Boys music since "We've Got It Goin' On" came out, begins to not just make fun of him, but to bash him.
I have been raised that a person should be judged on their personality rahter than their appearance, and that is something that is important to me. I am not perfect, my friends and family are not perfect, and neither is Nick. Everyone at the show was commenting on how great his arms looked, but then turning around and laughing about his weight. GUESS WHAT ~ Nick isn't perfect. Neither is AJ, Brian, Kevin, or Howie. We may say they are, and even I have said it jokingly (they are compared to the guys I know around here!), but no one in this world is perfect. Yes, he's "pudgy," or whatever you want to call it, but thats what I love about him. He doesn't have to have a rock-hard body to look cute, sexy, or gorgeous. He doesn't have to try to please someone else, of whom he doesn't even know, when he isn't happy with himself. His personality, his looks, his voice.....Its what makes him "Nick." I'm so sick and tired of people saying stuff about his weight when the same people who are saying these things have so many flaws themselves. Fred Durst is "pudgy" but no one says anything about him. John Travolta is heavy to, but he's acknowledged as one of the best actors of his time. There is just a stereotype going around that ALL "boy-bands" MUST look a certain way, dress a certain way, and sing a certain way. The Backstreet Boys have broken through those boundaries, and have succeeded in every way possible. They're far from perfect, just as everyone else, and they know it.....And thats why I love them so much!
My point that I am trying to get across is this. I want Nick to know, as with the band, the rest of the Boys, their friends and family, that there ARE fans out here who repsect the Boys for who they are and the music they make and not just how good they look. Each of us, whether we be famous, a nobody, or anyone in between, is special, and beautiful inside and out. Granted some people "fit the mold" better, but does it really matter if there is nothing on the inside? No, I didn't think so. Why doesn't everyone just enjoy what they have to offer to others, like Kevin, Brian, AJ, Howie, and Nick do, and not harp on what they COULD be, what they COULD look like, or what they COULD do. No one is perfect, and it's just a fact of life. Everyone could be better in some way or another, but everyone could be a lot more worse too.
I just wish I could give Nick a huge hug, and tell him that everything is okay, and that there are some poeple out there who don't care what they look like as long as they keep the music coming. I've been through the joking and bashing before, and still am, and I almost took my own life because of it, but I didn't. And that is because of a song entitled "As Long As You Love Me" - a song that my friend called and dedicated to me on the same radio station that bashed Nick after the concert. That song literally saved my life. I say I am the "number one" Backstreet Boys fan, but my room isn't plastered with their pictures. Nor do I listen to their music ALL the time (I actually like hard rock...), but the Boys, the music, and the musicians and writers behind everything brought me from darkness to light, death to life. And I DO mean that in a literal sense.
I want to thank everyone: the band behind the Boys, and the Boys personally, for all that you have done for my life. If it wasn't for that smash hit, who knows where I'd be. Thank you: the band, old and new, and the Boys - especially Nick for "all the time spent, keepin' me alive."

Hey, My name is Becky, and I just read your newsletter thing for E.N.D. Im 13, by the way. Im a true Nick Carter fan and I totally agree with what you said in your newsletter. I especially hear that Nick is fat all the time, well they obviously dont know what they are talking about. He isnt fat at all. Yes he might be the one with the least amount of muscles in the group, but thats just because all the other guys have BIG muscles and just because he's not that skinny he still has that sweet smile and those gorgeous blue eyes, and that great personality. Dont get me wrong I dont like Nick Carter just becuz of his looks I like him because we have lots in common. I think that E.N.D. is a very good thing and I think someone should have thought of it sooner. I hear Nick Carter fans sometimes making fun of the rest of the Backstreet Boys, which I dont think is right either. If you like one of them you have to like the rest too becuz the whole group makes up one person's personality in the group so I think there should also be like a E.B.S.B.D -ending Backstreet Boys Disses. Well I just thought I would get that out because someone needs to hear my point of view too. And just becuz Nick isnt perfect gives no one the right to diss him. I never diss him. Also I went to a BSB concert on the 29th and I read the review the day after and the person said that "You didnt miss much if you didnt go" I was like "oh my gosh were you alseep or something, if she was a true fan she would have had a great time like I did." that kind of made me mad becuase that person who went's ticket could have went to someone who was a true fan and would have loved the concert. I think the concert was the best thing Ive ever seen!! Especially the way Nick dances!! That boy knows how to dance!! Have you ever met nick? I havent I get to next year though when this radio station interviews them. Im happy about that. So thanks for reading my review on your newsletter. I just thought I would write yo because I think E.N.D. is a good idea. Well gots to go c-ya now bye

BSB is my favorite singing group and Nick is my favorite, he is an extremely talented singer and dancer and i must say, the best looking
guy i've ever laid eyes my eyes on. In fact he looks better now then he ever has, dispite anyone who thinks he looks fat. He probably has gained a couple of pounds, but what's the point? It made him cuter. No

HI!!!! I luv Nick Carter and it REALLY makes me mad when people diss him like that. They don't even know him, and they don't know what he's really like, so they should just keep their mouths shut if you ask me. And besides, there's SSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more to Nick than what he looks like (which by the way, i have no problem w/... he's still the hottest guy I've EVER seen) like his voice and how nice he is to his fans. If people call themselves Nick's fans they shouldn't say that kind of crap about him, if you ask me. One thing's for sure, I'll always luv Nick no matter what.

I'd just like to say that I think what you are doing is great. Sure, Nick goes into a chatroom and gets upset when he hears people call him fat. It's a bummer he doesn't see when people like you start things like this. Bravo.

Yes,I love the BSB more than I love any one on the planet,and one of them is the boy that has made me see what real love is,Nicky.I have loved the group since I was about 7,but it took me about 3 years to realize I love Nicky. Yeah,I know hes 7 years older,and I know their are MANY other girls that feel the same way. But he is the only boy I have ever LOVED. And,hellow people,I dont know if u know this but Nicky is a normal 20 year old human being!!!.

Hey! My name is Sarah. I have liked the Backstreet Boys for almost 2 years now. I went to their concert this past November when they came to Buffalo, NY. I think it was the best concert that I have ever been to in my life. It was upbeat and energizing. I loved it! But like you, I heard all over the place, people talking about how Nick has gained weight. It made me angry at them for saying that. And the thing that made me even more angry about it, is how they weren't in perfect shape either. Nick's so called "weight problem" is hardly noticable. Well at least to me. No ones perfect. My one friend went a year and a half thinking she was perfect. It made me mad. Cause she was far from being perfect. Nick is closer to being perfect then she is. She lied, she made fun of people, she cheated, and she wasn't to
thin herself. But still she went around thinking she was perfect. She has finally moved on from that, thank god. But now its turned worse. She hates herself and is on the verge of suicide. It hurts me to see her like this. But the one thing that is helping me and her through this is the Backstreet Boys music. Without them I don't know where my friend and I would be right
now. No one in this world is perfect. And the Backstreet Boys know it. I don't know what else to say about this, but one thing. The people bashing BSB and Nick, and still call themselves true fans, are far from it. The fans who have stuck with the Backstreet Boys through their good times and bad, are really, the true fans, no doubt about it. Without the true fans BSB might not be here. And I am sure that they are forever grateful that we've been there for them.
