FOREVER IS A LONG TIME

As two young kids we ran down the path
Feet burning in the sand,
We cooled them in the ocean
Walking hand in hand;
Then we stared at the cool moon light
And wondered about the end,
Gazed into forever
Became forever friends.
You know forever is a long time.
As we made our way down the aisle
On that hot summer day,
With shaking knees and trembling hands
I heard that preacher say;
He asked my bride, "Will you take this man
And forever be his wife?"
Then she replied, "I will love him
For the rest of my life."
He said, "Forever is a long time."
Now once again we walked that same aisle
One cold winter day,
With tear filled eyes and trembling hands
We knelt down and prayed;
The preacher told us of God's saving grace
And how to have a brand new life,
He said God's love will last forever
And that's a long, long time.
You know forever is a long time.
