Everest is definately a dog of many talents. Here he is working on carting at the seminar in Livonia Michigan Labor Day Weekend 2005:
Maybe next year this will be another title!
April 15, 2005: Everest finishes up his AHBA-JDH title in just two shots. He had two calm, smooth runs with two groups of light sheep. That's my boy... now we have to go on to Herding Started and then some!
June 18,19, and 20th 2004: At the Greater Cleveland Rottie Club, AKC herding test/trial, Everest showed the crowd that collies are MORE then just a pretty face. He obtained his two PT legs in back to back shows, then we picked up a third leg the last day for insurance... We had nice complements from the judges:
June 18th: "Good Work!" - Judith Kelley
June 19th: "Nice Work!" - Anne Witte
June 20th" "Great Dog!" - Alan Koebke
and we got many complements from spectators a like. That's my boy...
April 4, 2004: After a long time out of the ring due to my work schedule we finally got a chance to finish up that CDX So we eeked out that last leg at the Youngstown All Breed Training Club shows this weekend. It wasn't pretty, but green is always good!
Dec 14, 2003: Another Show, another leg! Everest picks up that 2nd CDX leg at the Crown Classic in Cleveland. We were just out of the ribbons in 5th with a tough tough judge. Only 7 of 41 in the class qualified. We would have finished this weekend, but I really goofed up tossing the dumbbell over the Jump on Saturday. Everest did everything right. It really was completely HANDLER ERROR (bad me bad bad bad - back to dumbbell throwing classes!) One leg left for next year!
Nov 22, 2003: Out for a lovely afternoon of herding practice! Hopefully practice will soon turn into a PT title! That's the goal for the spring AKC trials at this point. Just a few photos of Everest showing how you move sheep!
10/25/2003 NEWS! After a long time without being able to go to shows due to work, Everest shows what collies are made of going out for his first CDX leg after only about 5 or 6 times doing any real practice on open exercises. It was really his first time in the ring at the Youngstown All-Breed Obedience Shows! It wasn't the best of his ability as it was a 183 without any finishes on the retrieving exercises. Everest was too busy trying to pull the dumbbell back away from me again instead of finishing, silly boy!
News News: 12/7 & 12/8 2002: Everest finishes up that CD getting legs #3 and #4 at the Cleveland and Toledo Collie Club Specialty Shows going 3rd in the class each day with scores of 182 and 187.5. Not the greatest scores he's had, but it has been a busy weekend being in both conformation and obedience (not to mention a long ride to and from!). Conformation results were class wins, but not much more... Maybe next time he'll get his majors... On to Open in 2003!
On 10/26/2002 Everest picked up his second CD leg with a score of 192.5 and just out of the ribbons in 5th at the Youngstown All-Breed Shows.
On 9/28/02 Everest passed his TT test.
August 17, 2002: After a little time to work toward obedience titles, Everest got his first leg on his CD at the Admiral Perry Obed. Trial going 3rd in the class with a 191.5 score.
We lost the run off for 2nd unfortunately...
(Everest's look on his face when we entered the ring for the run off was precious -- ?? What! we have to do this AGAIN!).
That isn't too bad for a wild child, who then blows it Sunday, galloping around the ring going...
Ooooh oooh, look at me, look at me, shhss don't tell mom but I'm.. I'm..I'm... OFF LEAD!
This boy is either really really good, or he's REALLLLY BAD in the rings... but you just gotta love the sense of humor he has about it all...
Next obedience shows are in October and November.....
March 2002: Once again we go second in Open White at the Nationals. This is getting a little Nuts. Time to go to the obedience ring and rock the ring a little there before we go for that CH title.
(Waiting on the Pictures)
October 26, 2001: Make that Can CH Bellagio Platinum Pinnacle HIC, CGC. In just 4 shows -- AND in JUST 6 DAYS! LESS THEN 1 WEEK -- from start to finish, Everest finishes his Can Championship with 3 points each day, going undefeated in the classes! WOW! Thank you Cheryl for handling this boy to perfection, and thank yous to all the judges, from Canada, USA, and Mexico who judged the collie and not the color! THANK YOU!
October 21, 2001: What weekend in Belleville Canada!
Everest goes WD/BOW/BOV (over Specials) on Friday for 3 points! Then, Everest goes WD/BOW on Saturday for 3 more points and then again WD/BOW/BOV (over Specials) for another 3 points on Sunday! WOW! One more point needed to finish! WOW! The pictures can't keep up!
October 18, 2001 News News News: Everest is now sitting on 9 American CH points most taken with BOW/BOS or BOV wins and one nice Major RWD win at one of the few major point shows this past summer. We've been up against some good competition for even those minor points with several wins under notable collie judges such as Ms. Pat Startkweather pictured in one of our latest wins. (Thank You Pat!) Everest will be heading to Canada for a bit, as we are holding off a bit on shows in the US for those majors to come around
and for the Nationals in March of 2002 to get one more shot at that Open White Dog class.
September 29th, 2001 -- More News (in the wake of National sorrow) which has somewhat dimmed the light on recent success:
Everest, out with LegendHold's exclusive handler, Cheryl Ellis, picks up two more points going WD/BOW for 1 pt at Prospect PA shows and again the next day WD/BOW/BOS at Kimberton PA shows (Sept 22 & 23). Followed by taking a Major RWD at the Romulus, NY Shows on Saturday Sept 29 and a RWD the next day on a broken major. This boy is picking up steam as his new coat comes in. The suspense is building.....
New Flash: Everest takes 2nd in Open White class at the 2001 Nationals in Lousiville, KY!
Only his 1/2 brother beat him by a hair, in a large class of 9 entries. Thanks to his Breeder, Jackie Young-Barikhan, for showing him while I was running rings! (Note to self: Don't enter 7 dogs at a Nationals ever again!) Everest's litter brother Bravo also took 2nd in the Open smooth class, a HUGE class of something like 27 dogs. SOOOO close for both these boys... There is always NEXT year.
Happy New Years!! An informal shot in the snow.
ONE STEP CLOSER!: (waiting on that picture)
Everest goes WD/BOW for another point at the Licking River KC show 10/14/00.
We were hoping for a BOV but
with the quailty packed Specials including
CH Glen Argent's Big Bang,
CH Ka-Ze's Tangled Up In Blue
and CH Overland Endless Summer there well...
We at least got mistaken by someone in the crowd,
as I heard someone ask....
"Who is that WHITE Specials dog!"
Thank you Mr. G. Schwartz for a nice win and your lovely statement to me when taking pictures.
Yes, Everest IS "One of the most handsome white dogs
I've seen in a VERY long time."
And at just 16 months old,he's going to become even more so as he matures!
Another show another RWD! Everest takes yet another RWD 10/01/00 at the Terra Haute KC Show.
BIG NEW FLASH: 9/04/00 Everest goes WD/BOW and Best of Variety and on to GROUP at the Fort Stuben Kennel Club show! (No points due to lack of dogs in competition (I think)) We were pulled out second of 6 in the cut, in a nice quality packed herding group by Ms. Nena VanCamp. Everest pulled the "fool puppy gallop" around the ring that last time and cost us that nice placement, but hey at 16 months just getting pulled is a real honor! Thank you Ms. VanCamp for giving us a serious looking over and thanks to the crowd that cheered for us even though I didn't know the majority of you!!
Another New Flash! Everest takes a RWD 8/27/00 at the Western Reserve Show.
NEWS FLASH!: Everest takes his first point going WD and BOW from the Open White class on 8/26/00, at the Ravenna KC show, OWNER HANDLED of course! Of course this doesn't mean a whole lot yet but everyone knows, "You climb the mountain, one step at a time!" (The Photographer goofed up my WIN photo so this one is the only one I have of him taken by Larry Pim.. THANKS LARRY, right place at the right time!!)
Little News Flash!: Everest takes a nice Reserve win and makes a well known handler sweat it out for those 2 points.
Thank you Mr. Conway for your lovely complements about my "nice collie puppy that just happens to be a white." (and I can quote you on that!).
NEWS FLASH: Everest finishes his HiC at just 10 months old at the 2000 CC of A Nationals! That's my boy!
Sometimes you just have to take a break from the shows and go outside for a photo shoot. Extra Special "Thank Yous" to Jackie Young-Barikhan, Everest's Co-breeder, for these great shots.
NEWS FLASH: Everest finishes his CGC on 1/22/2000, at just 2 days over 8 months old.
Everest at 8 Months "Hiding" in plain view for the sneak attack on Devon.
This is Everest at 11 weeks old (isn't he a cutie!). The one thing I NEVER thought I'd have is a white collie here at LegendHold, but never say never! Everest's Mom and Grandfather sold me on this line of collies and thus, Everest has been ASSEMILATED into the LegendHold Collie-ctive!
Scenes from a Winter Wonder Land
Everest is a true white collie with a sable head and a few body spots.
This is a recognized color in the Collie Club of America's, Collie Standard and it is completely acceptable to show this color in a conformation ring in the US and Canada!
However, this color is a disqualification in almost every other country. This color is NOT a rare color. It is a normal coloration and it is not associated with any specific health conditions.
In the Beginning......
Here's a small peek at Everest when he was just a little pup and how he's grown.
This handsome little guy (in the middle) is Everest at 3 weeks old.
This is Everest and his two rough sisters at 3 weeks.
(You can tell he's a California "dude" --
He's the one "basketing" in the sun!)
This is Everest at 7 weeks --
Watch out for those big ol' floppy ears!.
As you can see,
he's already changed a lot. It's not uncommon for collies
to loose some of the white markings on their face as they mature.
Where the water runs deep......
These are pictures of Everest's Grandfather,"Chauncey" and Mother, "Blanca".
This distinguished gentleman is Everest's Grandfather, Am.Mex.Nat&Duel Int. CH McMaur's The Challenger CD,TT,CGC,TDI -- AKA "Chauncey" at nearly 12 years old.
This lovely Lady is "Blanca", Everest's mother,
Am CH Bellagio Platinum Perfection
(McMaur's The Challenger CD,TT,CGC,TDI X
CH Willamere Peaches N Cream HC) Blanca is OFA'd good,
normal eye'd and a very possible non-carrier of CEA.
Unfortunately, I don't have a good picture of Everest's Father,
Paradice's Beyond a Shadow -- AKA "Shadow" to scan in.
He's a lovely, major pointed, tri-factored, white-factored
rough boy out of NY's Paradice Kennels.
Everest's Brother and Sister (Bravo and Prima) are special too!
