THE EASTER EGG
|
Christians adopted the
egg as an Easter symbol because of the relationship between Easter and
the renewal of life. The customs and traditions of using eggs
have been associated with Easter for centuries. The decorating
of eggs is a custom celebrated in several countries, and many of them
have their own traditional patterns. Some of the most famous
decorated Easter eggs are those designed in the Soviet Union and
Poland. The "Easter Egg Hunt" and the "Easter Egg Roll" are
traditions greatly enjoyed by children. In the United States
children have been invited to roll eggs on the White House lawn since
1878.
