Care of brushes

  1. Never stir or mix paint with the bristles of your brush. You may use the handle to stir the paint.
  2. Brushes used for painting reds and deep blues should never be used for painting grays (red and blues dyes are almost impossible to clean completely from the brush and will distort the grays – use separate brushes for grays.
  3. Clean your brushes in standard mineral spirits or Testors 1148 thinner. Swish around but do not press bristles against the container. Wipe with a lint free cloth.
  4. Repeat No. 3 until no color show when you wipe.
  5. Wash in lukewarm water and mild face soap. Rinse in clear water.
  6. Store your brushes, bristle up, in an open jar that is two inch shorter than the overall length of your brush.
  7. Testor nylon brushes may me trimmed to a smaller size or tip using a Exacto knife.
  8. Most Testor plastic handle brushes can be used to apply liquid cement as the are solvant proof

Good Brushes, properly used and maintained , will last for years and make your modeling a pleasure.
