Aight ya'll...I know I haven't updated in forever, and now I'm here giving you an update that isn't even about N Sync. Well tough cookies cuz I don't have anything remotely interesting to write about N Sync...but I did get my sticky fingers on Britney's new album "Britney" 2 weeks before it's release. How you ask? Well email me and maybe I'll tell you...if you're good. Anyhow, here's the review even though I've only listened to the cd about oh...2 times thru. Whatever. Enjoy.
Aight I'm sure all of you have heard this song by now. If you haven't, then you possibly live in a very dark cave...I suggest finding humanity and a radio...then turning it on. Anyways, I think this song is cool, you either love it or hate it though. The video is pretty good, I could do without some of it, but I think this song/video finally fits her image.
I think this is my favorite song on the cd...it's really catchy first off. Secondly, I think a lot of people can relate to the lyrics...it's just a cute song. I dunno, what do I look like, a professional album reviewer? Sheesh. I'd like this to be a single though, I will say that.
This song is pretty crunk too...danceable I guess is a good word for it. It's one of those bitter break-up songs, which is always fun times had by all. Although it's sorta like "Stronger" in a way...kinda how that song was all "my lonliness ain't killin me no more" as an homeage to "Baby One More Time". This song says "Don't knock on my door"...ala the Oops # 3 track with the same moniker. I think people write these tracks when they're on a 12 day crack binge and are so strung out they're playing the Britney albums on repeat while acting out the choreography with their very own Britney dolls. Something like that.
This is Britney's next single and apparently the track for her movie "Crossroads"...something like that. Whatever, in any case it's basically the only true ballad on the cd...okay so there's one other one (but it's not that good). This one has a good message and one that I think a lot of people can relate to, especially those in and around their late teens/early twenties. I'm interested to see what the video will be like, even though I don't have MTV...I say whatever.
This song is almost more spoken than actually sang...but whatever. You know any song with the title "Boys" can't be especially great. This particular one is no exception. It's just...cheesy...yeah, that's a good word for it. I think she's trying to kiss Janet Jackson's ass with her "control" and "nasty" references. Whatever. I could live without this song, that's for sure.
When this song starts, all I think of is John Travolta in all his 70's glory, dancing around disco inferno style with a polyester white suit and black shirt. Seriously, it's very 70's, early 80's sounding. It's an alright song...very different...retro-ish and all. I dunno, it's still growing on me.
Ahh, Joan Jett's famous 80's hit. This came out in like 1982...therefore Britney was what? 1? Not even born yet? I dunno when exactly she was born or when it came out. However, she does not do this song justice. She doesn't exactly murder it, but I like the original version much better. Britney trying to do the 80's rock thing just doesn't work out. In fact, Britney doing a remake of any kind usually doesn't work out...examples: The Beat Goes On...and on and on...unfortunately. Satisfaction...I can't get no...at least not when I'm listening to her version. Blah.
This is "supposedly" one that Britney co-wrote or wrote..whatever. In any case I heard that she wrote this one after arguments with Justin...it's one of those angry "boyfriends kinda suck" songs. Good stuff. I always love bitterness. In any case, this song's alright, but not quite in my top 5 favorites.
I think this is on the "On the Line" Soundtrack too but I dunno, since I'm too po' to afford it. Lol. I'm so po' I can't even afford the rest of the word. This song is kinda catchy...it gets stuck in April's head all the time I'll tell ya that much. It's not really one of my immediate favorites, but I don't hate it either. It's just there.
This song is um...interesting. Lol. It's really WEIRD. I dunno how to even describe it. The beats are really kinda cool but all the lyrics are very short and choppy. Plus they're just strange...what the fack is bombastic love anyways? That's what I'd like to know. The start of the chorus, the beat reminds me of something also...I can't figure out what it is. I think that it's either something from Edward Scissorhands or possibly The Nightmare Before Christmas. Lol.
I could see Mandy Moore singing this song out of the side of her mouth...cuz she does that you know. In any case, this is a ballad but it's kind of an upbeat love song/ballad...if that makes sense. Which it probably doesn't but whatever. It's an okay song...not one of my favorites but it's not last on my list either.
Ah, the one Justin and Wader J. wrote for Britty. This is the one everyone was talking about, and the one I was most curious about. I like it a lot, it's a little more "rock" than pop...it's definitely Justin-ized. Lol. Plus he sings backing on it so blah...and beatboxes. I wish Wade would do something like, scream "OW!" like Jacko or something. Wade's cool. Too bad he got molested. But that's not what I'm supposed to be talking about...this song is the shortest one on the album I think, but it's good, in my top 5 definitely.
This song is like on the B side of the Slave single...it's not on the album but I'm gonna review it anyways cuz it's FUNNAY. Lol. There's this part where she starts spelling "B-R-I-T-NEY". I laughed. Like I thought she was J. Lo or something, pssh. Whoever's idea that was, needs to be shot in the foot. How retarded...no wonder it only made it on the B side of a single. There's also one part of the song that reminds me vaguely of a George Michael song. Why I know George Michael songs, I do not know. Shut up and stop laughing at me, you listened to him too. Lol.
Okay that's the end of my lovely review. Lol. In conclusion, here are my top five favorite songs on the new Britney album: [in random order]
