"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which
are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal,
but the things which are not seen are eternal
(2 Corinthians 4:17-18)
G-d is working a pattern in our lives. We see only the present and the immediate, but G-d sees the whole picture of one's life as it will appear when the last stroke of the brush has completed the picture. In this pattern of our lives there are bright spots and dark background, all of them are necessary for the complete picture. As we pass through the dark experiences of life, we see only the dark place.
The experiences we have in life are like a jigsaw puzzle. Sometimes the black piece doesn't make sense and doesn't seem to fit. But then we find a little brighter piece. Eventually the Master will take all the pieces that seem so disconnected to us now and carefully arrange them in their proper places. The Master makes no mistakes and we will see His completed work. We just need to remember that the dark pieces are just as important as the bright pieces to get the full beauty of the pattern.
Now we see through a glass darkly, but then we shall see His face clearly.
Now we see only the separate parts and pieces, but then we shall know
it in its perfectness, even as He knows now.
(1 Corinthians 13:12)
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to know that
You began a good work in us which
will never cease until You have accomplished Your
purpose of making us like Your Son.
Be with us as we pass through the dark places and
give us faith to know they will be used in your plan for us.
