Five Easy Steps to Sweeping Her Off Her Feet

Step 1: Dress to Impress

He tugged lightly on the collar of his blue and yellow plaid button down shirt. He adjusted the belt around his waist that held up his dark denim jeans. He smoothed his hair down once more.

Grabbing his keys off the dresser, he took one last glance in the mirror before heading out the door and off to work.

Usually, he couldn’t care less about his appearance for work, seeing as how he was just shipped off to wardrobe the second he arrived. But today was different.

Step 2: Ride in Style

He jumped into his new silver Audi Roadster and sped off toward the highway.

He arrived right on time. He pulled into the parking stall next to the shiny new blue Civic.

He could feel her eyes on him as he leapt out of the car and walked straight past her, without a second glance.

Step 3: Make Eye Contact

He noticed her standing off to the side, in the shadows, away from him, away from the cameras, away from everything, but positioned so that everything was in sight.

The shot was finally gotten in like ten takes, and the director called for a five-minute break. He hung around the set with some crew guys.

She was still standing there. He could see her. She glanced up and their eyes met.

He did the classic guy head-nod and she smiled back.

He looked away before anything more could take place. He noticed her walk away as the director came back to the set.

Step 4: Strike Up A Conversation

This was his chance. He and his buddies were playing football during their lunch break, and he’d seen enough movies to know that playing football could very easily lead to conversation.

“Heads up!” someone called to him. He missed the ball on purpose; it was flying in her direction.

“Watch out!” he called, running after the ‘run-away’ ball. She ducked just in time to have it fly not five inches from her head. He flinched when he saw how close it had been. Oops.

She straightened back up and sighed. “That was close,” she mumbled.

“You ok?” he asked, jogging up to her.

“Yeah, I’m fine, thanks.” She picked up the football and handed it to him. “Geez, how could you have missed that throw? My grandma coulda caught that! And she’s no tough cookie.”

He grinned sheepishly and chuckled. “Yeah, I’ve always been bad at this whole catching the ball thing,” he lied.

“Obviously,” she giggled.

“Josh!” someone behind him yelled. “The ball?” they asked when he turned around. He threw it back to them and turned back around to face her.

“So, what are ya up to?” he asked.

“I was just about to eat lunch. And yourself?” she asked, starting to walk back to the trailer she was assigned to.

“Nothin’ much.” She walked into her trailer and he followed. He sat on the huge couch that was just inside the door while she sat in a twirly chair in front of the mirror. “So, you do makeup huh?”

“Yep.”

“Cool…” he said. Too bad I’ve never got to come in here before… he thought.

“So, you act huh?” she said, mocking him.

“Ha. Ha,” he let out a dry laugh. He glanced at his watch. “I should probably be getting back soon. How about I take you out to dinner sometime? Maybe tomorrow night?”

She smiled at him. She had such an adorably crooked grin. “That’d be great. Here,” she said, scribbling down her address and phone number. “How about you be there at 6:30?”

“Sure.” He took the piece of paper from her. “Bye!” he said, jumping down out of the trailer and running back over to his friends.

Step 5: Be Completely Irresistible

He showed up at her apartment with a single pink rose behind his back. He straightened his leather jacket before lightly knocking on the door in front of him.

She eventually answered, and he thought he had died and gone to heaven.

She answered the door with a bright smile adorning her face, and the most beautiful dress he’d ever seen adorning her body. The light pink dress hugged her in all the right places, and the low-cut neck didn’t hurt either.

“Are you just gonna stand there? Or are you gonna come in? I’m not quite ready yet.” She moved aside so he could get in. “Just sit on the couch, I’ll only be a minute.”

She disappeared down the hall, but came back not two minutes later.

“You ready?” he asked, getting up.

“Yep!”

“Oh, here!” he said, handing her the rose and flashing her a bright smile.

“For me?” she squealed. She linked her arm with his and they walked out of her apartment. “So, where are we going?”

“Lady’s choice.”

“Aww, what a sweet heart!” she giggled as they walked toward his car.

A few hours later, they were back where they started, at her front door.

“So…” she said. “Wanna come in?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

“I’d love to-“ She smiled, hopeful. “But, work…gotta get up early, ya know. But, we’re definitely going to have to do this again, right?”

“Definitely.” She just realized her hands were in his. She suddenly got nervous.

“Well, g’nite!” he said, his voice no louder than hers had been moments before.

She bit her bottom lip as she stared up at him, as he stared down at her. They inched toward each other until, an eternity later, their lips met.
