When I think about the bad things like illness, sorrows, and death that comes into my life, I suddenly see that it is these very same tribulations which bear witness to a living God. Our human lives lead only to death which is the world's greatest sorrow, but is that all there is? If so, then why is there a thing called knowledge, if it only leads to nothingness. Why is there a thing called love, when it only leads to nothingness? Why would a living creature live long enough to understand the stars and the endless universe, if at the end it is all tossed into the furnace of nothingness? Without a living God, nothing has meaning, and the words I now speak are simply hurled into the endless nothingness, without meaning or hope!

It is through the joys and tribulations of this world that we learn that life truly has meaning, and there is a wonderful purpose for all things. Why do bad things happen to us? It is to mold and make us into the same magnificent image as our heavenly Father. Our joys and sorrows instill in us the same love, humility, and understanding which are the hallmark of the Father's perfect image. The pain in this life is short, but if we fail to learn and understand why we are here, if we fail to become like our Father, then our sadness will follow us wherever we go.

Yes Jesus, your words are true, "all things work for good, for those who love the Lord". Thank you Father for your wonderful Word, called Jesus!
